Brand new Dacia Spring for 17,900 euros

The all-new Dacia Spring, starting at 17,900 euros. Renault’s compact vehicle has become bigger and more spacious: here’s how.

Let’s start with the prices, which are crucial in this market segment. At 17,900 euros (the Expression version, with fewer accessories), the Spring remains in 2nd place among the cheapest electric vehicles overall. There are currently only 5 models under 20,000 euros, with the least expensive one (and the best-selling in 2026) being the Leapmotor To3 at 15,900 euros. The new Spring is also available in a more equipped version for 19,500 euros, featuring the standard 10.2-inch Media Nav infotainment system. Size is the first thing that stands out when comparing the new version to the one sold so far. The length increases by 15 cm (to 3.85 meters), and the width increases by 18 cm (to 1.74 meters). This naturally results in more interior space, with the trunk capacity rising from 337 liters to 1,283 liters when the 50/50 foldable rear seat is lowered.

Range of 250 km, fuel consumption of 12.7 kWh/100 km

The technical aspects are obviously largely shared with its “cousin,” the Renault Twingo. It features a 60 kW (82 hp) engine (designed in China) that delivers 175 Nm of torque. The battery is an LFP type with a useful capacity of 27.5 kWh, providing a range (WLTP) of up to 250 km—25 km more than the current version. The top speed is 130 km/h, with an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.1 seconds. Fuel consumption is 12.7 kWh/100 km, and the weight is 1,212 kg. The charging power of 6.3 kWh isn’t impressive, but an option allows for 11 kW AC charging and 50 kW DC charging. Inside, a 10.1-inch touchscreen is standard on the more expensive version. The base version comes with the Media Control system: use your smartphone to frame the dashboard and control functions via the buttons on the steering wheel using the dedicated Dacia app.
