Dacia is currently in a phase of strategic reorientation. As a Renault subsidiary, it faces the challenge of advancing electrification to meet emission standards while still targeting cost-conscious customers. In this context, the brand is expanding its portfolio with new models such as the mid-size SUV Bigster and the medium-sized crossover Striker, both of which are also available as hybrids.

According to Automotive News, CEO Katrin Adt does not expect cannibalization of the brand’s existing products but rather growth through attracting new customer groups. The base price for the Striker is expected to be below 25,000 euros. A launch for the next generation of the small electric SUV Spring, based on the battery-powered Renault Twingo and manufactured in Slovenia, is planned for this year.

Dacia’s sales figures declined in early 2026 due to logistics problems and weather conditions in the Strait of Gibraltar, as well as the shift toward hybrid models. While these specific issues have been resolved according to management, the geopolitical situation caused by the war in the Middle East is affecting customer behavior. Rising fuel costs have led to an average 15 percent increase in people’s mobility budgets, said Adt.

In addition, the brand faces more intense competition. As the market for internal combustion engines and hybrids shrinks, Chinese manufacturers are increasingly entering Europe. Dacia is working on affordable solutions for electrification, considering its current product lineup to be complete but continuously thinking about future models.
