Cyprus expands public charging network
The Cypriot Ministry of Transport hopes to expand the island nation's EV charging network. In addition to the 380 or so public charging stations currently operational, around 100 more are set to be added within three years - including 18 chargers for heavy commercial vehicles.

The Cyprus Ministry of Transport has announced plans to install a total of 94 new fast-charging points by 2028, financed under the national Recovery and Resilience Plan. The estimated cost is around €10 million. The project includes 76 charging points for passenger cars, each with a capacity of 150 kW, as well as 18 for heavy-duty vehicles, with a power range of 200 to 350 kW.
Ten fast-charging stations from the new programme have already been installed at publicly accessible locations for €840,660 – five of them at hospitals in Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, Kyperounta and Famagusta. Additional stations are located at bus terminals and archaeological sites, among others.
Currently, Cyprus already has 384 publicly accessible charging stations across 221 locations. Of these, 76 are in Nicosia, 57 in Limassol, 32 in Paphos, 29 in Larnaca and 27 in Famagusta. This year, 16 of the new passenger car charging stations are planned, followed by 48 for passenger cars and 12 for commercial vehicles in 2027, and the remaining locations in 2028.
