The Cupra Raval has a 5/5 Euro NCAP rating. That is, with an imaginary Safety Pack package. While Chinese competitors get 5/5 out of the box.
Cupra’s press office announced that the Cupra Raval achieved 5 out of 5 stars in the 2026 Euro NCAP tests. What the company didn’t mention at first is that in reality there are only four stars, and obtaining the fifth requires purchasing an optional Safety Pack, which is NOT available in the configuration tool. Meanwhile, three similar Chinese models tested around the same time—Geely E2, Leapmotor B05, and Aion UT—already come standard with 5/5 Euro NCAP stars.

In a press release, the company claims the Cupra Raval is a “compact” model, although the car is only 4.046 meters long (segment B). Among the listed “Made in China” vehicles, the Geely E2 is the closest to it (4.14 meters, segment B), while the Aion UT (4.27 meters, bordering segments B and C) and Leapmotor B05 (4.43 meters long, segment C) are slightly larger — and in fact, only the latter could be considered a “compact” car, meaning a typical representative of segment C.

The Cupra Raval without the Safety Pack costs from 99,900 złotys, BUT this configuration does not allow for the addition of that package at all – it is not available among the options. The first additional packages (20) appear in the Raval Plus version, which costs from 113,900 złotys, yet neither this edition nor any other still offers the Safety Pack to choose from! According to the description on the Euro NCAP page, the package includes adaptive cruise control that anticipates road conditions (pACC) and a system for monitoring traffic ahead of the vehicle (FTA).
This last option is only available on the Cupra Raval Endurance version (starting at 142,900 zł), and it likely requires selecting the Drive package (+2,480 zł), which also forces us to add a roof in a contrasting color (+1,820 zł) and the Edge package (+4,141 zł). To make things even more ridiculous, only one of these options can be chosen at a time—see the circular selection fields—and so we’ll soon be prompted to add the second one. As a result, the Cupra Raval, which offers the highest safety level according to Euro NCAP, costs at least 151,341 złoty.
Geely E2, Leapmotor B05, GAC Aion UT
We don’t quite understand why a European manufacturer, the obvious first choice, would go to such lengths to annoy us. The Geely E2 comes standard with 5 out of 5 stars and starts in Germany at around 90,000 złoty (see: Geely E2 price). The Leapmotor B05 was priced at 106,900 złoty during its launch promotion, while the GAC Aion UT in the only battery version available in Poland, with a 60 (~58) kWh capacity, starts at 129,900 złoty for the Premium trim. All these Chinese electric cars are therefore larger and cheaper than the Cupra Raval with its non-existent Safety Pack.
Editor’s note from Elektrowozu: Cupra claims that “the Safety Pack is available as part of the domestic configuration” and that “the CUPRA Raval Plus, Endurance, and VZ versions come standard with five-star safety features.” A quick look at the configurator (HERE) shows this to be untrue. The FTA option only appears in the description of the Endurance version.
