It costs less than 18,000 euros and promises 270 km of range.

The electric quadricycle market is set to welcome a new model that emphasizes light weight, low fuel consumption, and materials other than steel. Named LIUX BIG, it is the first commercial model from LIUX, a Spanish company specializing in electric mobility, which will debut it in Italy at EICMA 2026, held from November 3 to 8 at Fiera Milano Rho.
Commercial release is scheduled for the first half of 2027, with an initial price of less than 18,000 euros, before any incentives are applied.
At around 2.7 meters long, the BIG is a two-seater electric vehicle approved in the L7e category, which is for heavy quadricycles. It weighs 648 kg including the battery and offers a 240-liter trunk space. The design focuses on a lightweight structure and the use of linen fiber composites, a choice the manufacturer made to reduce both the vehicle’s weight and the environmental impact of production.
Linen fiber, modular batteries, and up to 270 km of range
The most distinctive feature of the LIUX BIG is its monocoque structure, meaning the body’s load-bearing framework is made from a linen fiber biocomposite. According to the company, this solution reduces the weight of the structure by about 40% compared to an equivalent steel component and cuts CO₂ emissions associated with its production by 61%.
For safety, the vehicle combines a composite structure with a reinforced steel frame and doors featuring high-strength components. It also comes equipped with disc brakes on all wheels, independent MacPherson suspensions, hill start assist, and regenerative braking. It remains to be seen how the structure will perform in crash tests and how straightforward and inexpensive repairs will be in the event of an accident.
The BIG will be available with batteries of 15 and 20 kWh. For the 15 kWh version, LIUX claims a range of 215 km according to the WMTC cycle and a consumption of 6.7 kWh/100 km; for the 20 kWh version, the estimated range reaches up to 270 km. The engine delivers a maximum power of 35 kW, equivalent to 47 HP, while the top speed is limited to 90 km/h. Acceleration from 0 to 50 km/h takes 4.5 seconds, according to the manufacturer’s data.
The company is also focusing on modular batteries, designed to be separated from the rest of the vehicle and replaced, thereby facilitating maintenance and extending the vehicle’s service life. The bodywork uses recyclable resins as well, and 3D printing techniques were employed during prototype development to produce certain components and reduce time and waste.
Price under 18,000 euros with production in Spain starting in 2027
The debut at EICMA in Italy marks the first step toward commercialization there, along with Spain and France, which LIUX has identified as priority markets. The starting price will be below 18,000 euros, but the prices for individual versions and details regarding the sales and service network have not yet been announced.
The manufacturer also stated that around 7,500 people have signed up for the BIG waiting list: a figure that, on its own, does not indicate how many will turn into actual orders.

The vehicle was designed and developed in Spain and will be produced in Azuqueca de Henares, in the province of Guadalajara. The stated goal is to reach an annual production capacity of 20,000 units by 2030.
"With the LIUX BIG, we demonstrate that it is possible to develop and produce a new generation of vehicles in Spain, using our own technologies, materials, and engineering,"
Antonio Espinosa, the company’s CEO and co-founder, who provided more details to Motor1.com Italia, said that the next challenge will be moving from technical promises to mass production, testing fuel consumption and range on the road, and proving that the use of linen fiber can bring tangible benefits even to those who buy and use the vehicle.
