Chery will introduce its core brand in Germany during the first half of 2027. The Chinese manufacturer has officially confirmed the launch of the Tiggo series for this period. Initially, four SUVs with full or plug-in hybrid powertrains are planned: Tiggo 4, Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8, and Tiggo 9. A purely battery-electric model is not part of the German lineup for now.

The Tiggo 4 is scheduled as a full hybrid, while the Tiggo 7 will offer both full hybrid and plug-in hybrid options. The Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9 are intended to be available as plug-in hybrids. Technical specifications and final prices for the German series versions have not yet been fully determined.

A purely battery-powered Chery model is set to follow at a later date. Patrick Reimers, the company’s head for Germany, recently cited late 2027 as the target timeline for the first electric vehicle. Meanwhile, Chery lists the all-electric Chery Q as an upcoming model on its international website, though no technical specifications specific to Germany have been released yet.

Chery relies on a traditional dealership network

For sales and service, Chery depends on a conventional dealership network. According to Reimers, at least 30 active dealerships are expected by the first quarter of 2027, with at least 100 sales and service partners planned by the end of 2027. For after-sales support, the company works with Kühne+Nagel among others in Germany. It also has an agreement with Allianz Partners for roadside assistance.

The dealer network is the core of sales and service, emphasizes the Germany head in an interview with tz.de. “A car can be sold relatively quickly based on price. It’s more difficult to build long-term customer satisfaction and loyalty. For that, especially with a new brand, you need local contacts and a functional service network.”

They aim to offer vehicles that look modern and are technologically advanced, while still remaining functional, practical, and suitable for families. Safety also plays a major role, explains the Germany head. “In terms of positioning, we look less at other Chinese brands and more at manufacturers like Skoda, Hyundai, or Mazda, which have successfully established themselves in Europe over many years.” Chery’s list prices are set to be competitive from the start.

The Chinese company enters Germany as a major exporter of vehicles: Chery reported 2,806,393 vehicles sold worldwide in 2025, with 1,344,020 of those being exports. In Europe, the brand is already active in countries such as Spain, Poland, and the United Kingdom. In Barcelona, Chery produces vehicles together with Ebro in a former Nissan factory. However, according to the current plan, the vehicles initially intended for Germany will be imported from China. A greater use of the Spanish facility for European markets is planned in the future.
