The Chery Q will arrive in Europe. And in Poland. Main competitors: Skoda Epiq, Leamotor B03, Hyundai Ioniq 3, Geely E2

The market for cars in the B-segment (4.15–4.2 meters long) is becoming increasingly competitive. Both local and Asian automakers are introducing their vehicles here. Chinese brand Chery, after dominating the market with its gasoline-powered Tiggo models, will start offering the Chery Q model in Europe. According to Automotive News, this electric vehicle will make its debut at the Paris auto show in October and will also be available in Poland by 2027. The expected battery capacity is just over 40 kWh, but surprises are possible.

Chery Q vs. the small giants

The Chery Q is 4,195 meters long with a wheelbase of up to 2.7 meters. In international markets, it is offered with a battery having a capacity of 41.2 kWh built using LFP cells, but given such a long wheelbase, the manufacturer could fit as much as ~63 (61) kWh of battery under the floor [editorial speculation by Elektrowozu], since that is exactly the capacity of the Omoda E5 and Jaecoo E5, models produced by the same company with wheelbases of 2.63/2.62 meters. The width also fits quite well: it is 1.81 meters in the Chery Q, 1.83 meters in the Omoda E5, and 1.86 meters in the Jaecoo E5.

The manufacturer won’t have an easy time in Europe. It will need to compete with poorly equipped cheapest models (Skoda Epiq, Hyundai Ioniq 3) and electric cars from China that, with purchase prices similar to those of well-known brands, try to attract buyers with more luxurious features (Leapmotor B03, or the lower version B03X, Geely E2). It seems Chery will take a sweet approach with the Q, just like Geely with the E2, hoping to win over women consumers. Prices should be set accordingly; we expect around 100,000 Polish zlotys for the base model.

The Chery Q’s claimed range is 400 CLTC units, but considering the battery capacity and vehicle design, we can expect around 300-310 WLTP units, which translates to 256 kilometers in urban or urban-suburban driving conditions. Charging from 30% to 80% should take less than 16.5 minutes. The engine delivers 90 kW/122 HP and powers the rear wheels. Interestingly, the manufacturer offers a driver assistance package along with… 35-liter compartments under the rear seats. The trunk itself has a capacity of 375 liters, plus a front compartment with a volume of 70 liters (including fluids).
