According to the company, the service aims to address the ‘fragmented’ nature of India’s public charging infrastructure which currently sees drivers rely upon separate apps and payment accounts for different charging networks. Instead, the new app enables users to locate chargers, check their availability, navigate to a station, and start a charging session.

ChargeIndia has stated that drivers do not need to maintain prepaid balances with individual charging networks, and can instead pay for charging sessions directly through India’s UPI payment system. At launch, the platform includes networks such as Statiq, ChargeMOD, and ChargeZone.

The company is also positioning the platform as an interoperability layer for business. OEMs, mobility platforms and other consumer-facing services can easily integrate with ChargeIndia to access multiple charging networks without having to establish separate connections with individual CPOs. On the technology side, it’s described as a ‘neutral’ platform based on the Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI) that connects CPOs and e-mobility service providers.

Devbrat Hariyani, founder of ChargeIndia, said: “EV charging should work like any other essential service; consumers should be able to use it without having to understand which network sits behind it. That is the principle on which we have built ChargeIndia. We are creating a neutral platform that allows CPOs to remain independent while giving consumers a simpler way to access charging across networks. Our ambition is not to own the charging network, but to become the layer that makes different networks work together.”
