Chinese newcomer Changan has selected home EV charger specialist, Ohme, as its preferred home wallbox supplier.

Founded in 2017, Ohme is the UK’s largest home EV charging company and one of the fastest-growing EV charging firms in Europe. Changan, meanwhile, has a 45-year history since its foundation in the Chinese city of Chongqing.

However, it has had a European presence since 2001, courtesy of a design centre in Turin, Italy, and a research and development centre in Birmingham, UK, which opened in 2010. The brand debuted in the UK in September 2025, with its all-electric Deepal S07 SUV.

While Changan buyers won’t receive a discount as per Ohme’s recent tie-up with the EVA England lobbyist group, the Chinese carmaker’s UK dealership network will recommend Ohme’s dynamic chargers to those needing a home charger.

The Ohme wallbox range, which comprises the Home Pro and the ePod, will be available to view across Changan dealers, and Ohme will offer a full installation solution, as well as dealer training and support, and collaboration on emerging technologies such as vehicle-to-grid (V2G).

Ohme’s chargers use live grid data and are compatible with the UK’s most affordable, dedicated EV home charging tariffs, such as Octopus Go. With overnight charging prices dropping to 8p/kWh, the cost of charging a Changan Deepal S05 with a 68.8kWh battery and a 303-mile WLTP-certified range could cost as little as £5.50.

This is because the chargers automatically adjust to the lowest, and therefore greenest, energy price. A solar boost function also reduces Ohme’s reliance on the grid.

“Buying an electric car and working out how to charge it at home shouldn’t be two separate conversations,” said Nic Thomas, Changan UK’s managing director. “Most people just want a straight answer on what to get, what it costs, and who’s going to fit it. This partnership means our customers can choose the car and home charger in the same place, with people who know what they’re talking about. We looked for a partner with a genuine track record, not just a product to sell. Ohme is trusted by drivers and by other manufacturers, and that gave us the confidence to recommend them to our own customers.”

Changan’s UK lineup currently includes the all-electric Deepal S05 and S07, while the S05 Ultra PHEV is a long-range plug-in hybrid (PHEV). A new model named the Q05 is slated to arrive here early next year, and the brand looks poised to introduce solid-state batteries as early as next year.
