BYD will have its own 5.5-meter long Rolls-Royce priced at 260,000€: after much anticipation, we now know what its appearance will be like.

BYD is no longer content with competing in the affordable electric car market. The Chinese manufacturer is preparing a new push into the most exclusive segment of the automotive industry, where brands such as Rolls-Royce and Mercedes-Maybach currently dominate. Its next venture is called the Yangwang Altior, a massive luxury sedan that promises to become one of the most luxurious and expensive cars developed by a Chinese company.

After several months of spy photos and official teasers, the first image of the vehicle without camouflage has finally appeared, revealing its front design. The photo, shared in China by the BYD Fan Club, gives a glimpse of some of its key aesthetic features ahead of its international debut, scheduled for early November in the United Arab Emirates. Its price has not yet been officially announced, but reports from China suggest it will cost around two million yuan, approximately 260,000 euros.

BYD unveils a front end reminiscent of Rolls-Royce

The first image of the Yangwang Altior reveals a particularly striking design. Its front is dominated by a huge vertical black grille, accompanied by a rectangular active air intake at the bottom. The main headlights are integrated into the bumper, while the daytime running lights feature a distinct lighting signature of their own.

According to published information, this lighting design is inspired by the ding, an ancient Chinese ceremonial vessel that previously served as an aesthetic reference for the Yangwang U8. The vehicle in the photo features a bronze-colored body paired with a dark hood. A LiDAR sensor is also mounted on the roof, linked to BYD’s God’s Eye driving assistance system.

The proportions are also noteworthy. According to the data available so far, the Altior will be approximately 5,500 mm long with a wheelbase of 3,350 mm. This means it will be about 100 mm longer than a standard Rolls-Royce Ghost. Additionally, previous images have shown that it will feature rear doors that open backward, a feature typical of large luxury sedans.

4 electric motors and a hydraulic suspension

Although BYD has not yet released its final technical specifications, the Yangwang Altior is expected to feature some of the brand’s most advanced technologies. Among these is the option to use four independent electric motors, in line with the philosophy of other Yangwang models, as well as a hydraulic suspension system designed to improve comfort and vehicle control.

However, these features have not been officially confirmed yet. Its power output, battery capacity, and range are also unknown. In fact, BYD has not yet detailed the final mechanical configuration of this sedan, so we will have to wait for its launch to learn about all its performance specs.

What is clear is its positioning. The Yangwang Altior, previously known by the internal name HU and called Dingyao in China, will sit at the top of BYD’s luxury lineup. Its main competitors will be the Rolls-Royce Ghost, the Mercedes-Maybach Class S, and the Maextro S800, developed by Huawei and JAC.

Its unveiling will take place in November, outside of China

The choice of the United Arab Emirates for its global debut is also no coincidence. BYD aims to strengthen the international presence of Yangwang, its most exclusive brand, in a market that is particularly important for luxury vehicles. Available information suggests the launch will take place around November 5, though the exact date remains pending official confirmation.

In the meantime, Yangwang continues to expand its commercial footprint. From January to September 2026, it delivered 3,251 vehicles, 38.9% more than during the same period last year. This relatively modest volume reflects its focus on a customer segment that differs significantly from BYD’s more popular models.

The Altior will be another demonstration of this strategy. With dimensions larger than those of many European luxury sedans and an estimated price of around 260,000 euros, BYD aims to show that it can also compete in the most exclusive segment of the automotive market.
