The second-generation BYD Seal 07 starts at 139,900 yuan. The electric vehicle has a CLTC range of 775 km.

BYD unveiled the second generation of the Seal 07 in China on Thursday. This sedan is 20 mm longer than the BMW 5 Series and significantly cheaper than its predecessor. Prices start at 139,900 yuan (around $21,000) for the plug-in hybrid DM-i version and 149,900 yuan for the electric version. According to BYD, the electric model can travel 775 km on the CLTC cycle and charge from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes. The new model arrives just eight months after the launch of the refreshed Seal 07 in March, which failed to convince customers.

According to China EV DataTracker, cited by CarNewsChina, BYD delivered only 8,017 Seal 07 units to customers in China from January to September 2026. For the largest producer of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, this is a weak result, so BYD decided to create a new model instead of waiting.
Lower starting price, but weaker standard features
The Gama comes in five versions. The two DM-i hybrids cost 139,900 and 149,900 yuan, while the three electric models are priced at 149,900, 159,900, and 172,900 yuan. All electric versions share the same drive system and range. The base electric model is 20,000 yuan (about 12%) cheaper than the March 2026 Seal 07 EV. The hybrid model is 9,900 yuan (about 7%) more expensive than the 2026 DM-i model released in September 2025, which had four versions priced from 149,800 to 186,800 yuan. Additionally, there is a temporary discount for trading in an old car, reducing the price by 4,000 yuan for each version (135,900–168,900 yuan). This discount is subject to the terms of the trade-in program.
Part of the price reduction on the BYD was offset by additional equipment. The base versions of the electric and hybrid models come only with a standard cruise control, and God’s Eye cannot be added as an option. The two more expensive electric models and the higher-end hybrid come standard with God’s Eye C, which is an assistant for driving on highways and urban expressways (HNOA). God’s Eye B, featuring a lidar on the roof, is available as an option and adds navigation with city driving assistance (CNOA). In the lower-end hybrid, the three cheaper versions came standard with God’s Eye C, while the most expensive version came with a lidar at no extra cost.
The body size has increased. Both versions measure 5080 mm in length, 1960 mm in width, 1495 mm in height, and 2960 mm in wheelbase. Compared to the predecessors, this represents an 85 mm increase in length and a 60 mm increase in wheelbase, while the width has increased by 50 or 60 mm depending on the version. The electric version features a 618 l trunk and a 160 l front compartment, which BYD claims is the largest in its class. The hybrid version has a 595 l trunk.
Powertrain, battery, and charging
The electric vehicle features one motor at the rear with 245 kW of power and 365 Nm of torque. BYD claims a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.5 seconds, which is one second faster than the March model, along with a top speed of 240 km/h. A heat pump is standard equipment. The battery is a second-generation LFP Blade battery with a capacity of 76.7 kWh. It provides 775 km of range in the CLTC cycle, 70 km more than in March, and 636 km according to CarNewsChina in the WLTP cycle. The manufacturer states an energy consumption of 9.8 kWh per 100 km. During the October interior reveal, we reported 875 km in the CLTC cycle, but the official launch figures show 775 km.
Flash Charging is said to take 5 minutes to charge from 10% to 70% and 9 minutes to charge from 10% to 97%. These are BYD’s claims, and the manufacturer did not specify any charging power levels or station requirements in the launch materials. In March, with the previous model, BYD promised almost 400 km of range in 5 minutes.
The DM-i hybrid features front-wheel drive: a 1.5 turbo engine with 115 kW of power and an electric motor with 160 kW of power, achieving 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. The battery capacity has increased to 38 kWh, providing 330 km of electric range according to CLTC standards (271 km per WLTP), which is 100 km more than the best version of the previous model. With a depleted battery, the hybrid consumes 3.3 l/100 km according to NEDC standards.
However, the hybrid hasn’t improved in every version. The previous three more expensive variants combined a 1.5 turbo engine with a 200 kW electric motor, allowing them to reach 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. The new, unified range is slower than these. It’s only faster than the old base version, which had a less powerful 1.5 engine with 74 kW of power and required 8 seconds to reach 100 km/h.

The suspension features double wishbones at the front and a five-link axle at the back. Lower-end versions use the DiSus-C system, while higher-end models use the magnetorheological DiSus-M system, which has been reserved for Denza and Fang Cheng Bao models so far.
Interior with fridge and clock
The cabin features a 15.6-inch screen, 10.25-inch displays, an HUD, a 50 W induction charger, and a physical button panel in the tunnel. Notably, there’s the Diva, a smartwatch that acts as a “companion” and allows remote control of the car’s functions. The cabin also includes four magnetic mounts for accessories and tablet holders for rear passengers. Standard amenities include heated and ventilated front seats, two-zone climate control, a glass roof, acoustic windows, and an electric sunroof. The most expensive version adds “zero gravity” massage front seats, a heated and ventilated sofa, 20 speakers, and a 6.8 liter refrigerator. There are six paint colors available, including pink and purple.
BYD has not specified whether or when the second generation of the Seal 07 will arrive in Europe.
From the editorial team: Those who bought the electric Seal 07 in March now see its successor in showrooms, 20,000 yuan cheaper, with a range 70 km greater and a 1-second faster 0-100 km/h time. Such a rapid generation change won’t help the prices of used units.
