BYD continues to expand its lineup of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles at a rapid pace. Just 7 months after launching the Seal 07 EV in China, the Asian manufacturer is already preparing its second generation model, which will be significantly larger and feature major updates both in design and equipment. After revealing the first exterior images at the end of September, the company has begun to unveil details about its interior.
The information was shared by Zhang Zhuo, BYD’s Ocean division’s sales director, who posted new photos of the vehicle on the Chinese social media platform Weibo. He described its interior as a “light luxury” cabin, highlighting comfort features designed to enhance this sedan’s positioning. Additionally, records from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) already reveal its dimensions and many of the mechanical specifications for future electric and plug-in hybrid versions.

A 5.08-meter sedan with a more sporty aesthetic
The second generation of the BYD Seal 07 features a fastback body style, marked by a roof line that slopes gradually toward the rear. Its front end boasts a completely redesigned appearance, with separated light clusters and more stylized daytime running lights. This layout is paired with a closed front surface, following the aesthetic approach BYD is adopting in its latest models from the Ocean series.
On the sides, the partially hidden door handles and a silhouette are prominent, aiming to give it a more sporty appearance. The rear features a horizontal illuminated logo that runs across the entire width of the body. Official images also show a LiDAR sensor installed on the roof, though BYD has not yet specified which driving assistance functions will be available or in which versions they will come equipped.
The increase compared to the current model is significant. The new Seal 07 measures 5,080 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,960 mm. This means it is 85 mm longer and 50 mm wider than the Seal 07 EV introduced in March, while its height is 60 mm greater. These dimensions place it among the larger sedans produced by the Chinese manufacturer.

'Zero gravity' seats and Devialet sound
The latest images released by BYD reveal some of the most notable features inside the cabin. The company has confirmed that the new Seal 07 will come equipped with seats labeled 'zero gravity', featuring massage, ventilation, and heating functions. This type of equipment is designed to provide a higher level of comfort, especially during long trips.
Another novelty will be a sound system developed by Devialet, consisting of 20 speakers. So far, BYD has not specified whether these components will be standard or reserved for higher-end versions. It also has not disclosed the dimensions of the screens or the full specifications of the multimedia system, meaning there are still important interior details to uncover.
Electric versions with up to 408 HP and a plug-in hybrid option
The documentation submitted to Chinese authorities confirms that the new BYD Seal 07 will be available in two all-electric configurations. The first will use a 333 HP engine, while the second will increase power to 408 HP. Both will employ lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries, although BYD has not yet officially detailed all the specifications of the propulsion systems.

The range will also include a plug-in hybrid variant named Seal 07 DM-i. It will combine a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 156 HP with an electric motor producing 218 HP. The battery will have a capacity of 38 kWh, allowing up to 245 kilometers of range in pure electric mode, according to information from Chinese regulatory records.
BYD has not yet announced its prices
The second generation of the Seal 07 is set to launch in China, though BYD has not yet announced a specific date or prices for its different versions. For reference, the Seal 07 EV currently available in that market starts at 169,900 yuan (22,695 euros), while the Seal 07 DM-i has a starting price of 149,800 yuan (20,010 euros). As of now, there is also no confirmation regarding its possible arrival in Spain or the rest of Europe. However, the current BYD Seal might receive a significant update soon, and this Chinese lineup should provide us with important clues about it.
