Just over two weeks after launching its reservation list, Denza, BYD’s premium brand, has set a date for the commercial release of the new N8. Its new five-seater electric SUV will go on sale in China on November 12, with a launch event at the group’s headquarters in Shenzhen. Although nothing has been announced yet, Europe could be part of the N8’s expansion plans.
The name returns with a very different approach from the original N8, a plug-in hybrid six or seven-seater that arrived in 2023 and disappeared in less than a year due to modest sales. It now comes back as a pure electric vehicle and as a sibling to the Denza N8L, with which it will form the brand’s lineup of large family SUVs. According to official information, the lineup will be completed later with a plug-in hybrid version.
Over five meters long with space for everything

The N8 is 5,150 millimeters long, 1,999 millimeters wide, and 1,820 millimeters tall, with a wheelbase of 3,075 millimeters, dimensions that place it in the E segment. Denza utilizes this size to offer a 205-liter front trunk and a 1,046-liter rear trunk, which expands to 2,150 liters when the second row is folded down. Additionally, the seats can be combined to form a bed.
Inside, as we’ve already shown you, a 1.1-meter panoramic screen is located beneath the windshield, displaying speed, navigation, and driving assistance features. Below that is a 30-inch screen that the driver and passenger can share or split into two. Externally, buyers can choose from eight colors, four solid colors, and four two-tone options.
Up to three engines and the new e³ Evo technology

The mechanical lineup offers two options. The entry-level model features a single rear engine, delivering 435 or 503 horsepower depending on the version, while the more powerful version uses three engines with all-wheel drive: one front engine with 367 horsepower and two rear engines, each with 421 horsepower. Together, they produce 1,210 horsepower.
The higher-end version relies on BYD’s e³ technology, which makes its debut in the N8 as an upgraded version called e³ Evo. According to the brand, it enables acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in about 2.9 seconds. With each rear wheel having its own engine and steering system, it reduces the turning radius to 4.5 meters. It also allows maneuvers such as turning around a single wheel, as if the car were a compass.
Second-generation Blade battery and 9-minute charging

The N8 features BYD’s second-generation Blade battery and is compatible with Flash Charging technology, enabling the electric version to achieve up to 1,003 kilometers of range according to China’s CLTC cycle. Denza describes its charging time as “five minutes for a full charge and nine minutes for almost a full charge,” adding that at minus 30 degrees Celsius the process only takes three more minutes. For the plug-in hybrid, it claims an electric range of 435 kilometers, also based on the CLTC standard.
The price remains unknown, though the brand has given a hint by placing the N8 in the category of SUVs priced at around 350,000 yuan, or about 45,500 euros. For reference, the electric N8L, which has an additional row of seats, starts at 299,800 yuan in China, equivalent to roughly 39,000 euros.
