The new N8 is a 5-seat battery-electric SUV that opened for pre-orders on October 26.

The new model is equipped with BYD's second-generation Blade Battery, flash charging technology and God's Eye 5.0.

Denza, BYD's (HKEX: 1211) premium brand, will officially launch the new N8 on November 12, after pre-orders of the large 5-seat battery-electric SUV opened on October 26.

The launch event will begin at 7 pm Beijing Time at BYD's Pingshan headquarters in Shenzhen, according to information released by BYD on Thursday.

Customers who place a 2,000 yuan ($298) deposit now can choose between a 5,000 yuan options fund and an optional equipment package.

The N8 measures 5,150 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,820 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,075 mm, and is available in 8 body colors — 4 solid and 4 two-tone.

The single-motor versions deliver peak power of 320 kW (429 hp) and 370 kW, respectively. The tri-motor version is built on the e3 platform, with a 270 kW front motor and 2 rear motors of 310 kW each, for a combined maximum output of 890 kW, and supports compass-style U-turns and intelligent creep mode.

The new model is equipped with BYD's second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging technology, with the battery-electric version offering a range of up to 1,003 km (623 miles), according to previously released information.

Denza said the technology enables "5 minutes for a usable charge, 9 minutes for a near full charge," with charging time increasing by only 3 minutes at temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius (-22 degrees Fahrenheit).

Denza's earlier pre-order information covered only the battery-electric version and did not mention any launch plans for a plug-in hybrid variant.

The cockpit features a 1.1-meter PHUD panoramic display and a 30-inch giant screen; the former shows speed, navigation and driver-assistance information, while the latter supports shared viewing or independent split-screen use for the driver and front passenger.

The new model is equipped with the God's Eye 5.0 driver assistance system and DiSus-A intelligent air suspension, and offers 2 powertrain options: a rear single-motor rear-wheel-drive version and a tri-motor all-wheel-drive version.

The new N8 marks the return of the nameplate in the form of a 5-seat battery-electric SUV. The original N8 went on sale in August 2023 with 6-seat and 7-seat plug-in hybrid versions, but was discontinued less than a year after launch due to sluggish sales.

Denza subsequently launched the 6-seat N8L in October 2025 and added a battery-electric version of it in September this year.

The new N8 will form a product portfolio with different seating layouts alongside the N8L, expanding the brand's battery-electric SUV offerings for family users.

The all-electric Denza N9 features a tri-motor all-wheel-drive system with a combined peak output of 890 kW (1,194 hp).
