BYD Atto 3 Evo: Price starting at 163,440 Polish zlotys. For that amount, competitors offer less in everything.
The BYD Atto 3 Evo is one of BYD’s most technologically interesting models, which tends to get overshadowed by the massive marketing campaigns for the BYD Dolphin G and BYD Atto 2. Yet in its segment (C-SUV, 4.46 meters long, 2.72 meters wheelbase), it offers perhaps the best value for money: the BYD Atto 3 Evo is available on promotion at 163,440 Polish zlotys. It may seem expensive, but it already comes standard with a fairly large LFP battery with a capacity of 74.8 (~73) kWh.

The previous generation Atto 3 was simply weak, but this one stands out in every way. The Atto 3 Evo reaches a maximum power of 220 kW when connected to a charger and can charge from 10% to 80% in 25 minutes. The best Volkswagen ID.3 Neo (the smaller model) requires at least 26 minutes, while the Skoda Elroq (slightly larger) takes exactly the same amount of time. The Kia EV3 (smaller) and Kia EV4 (slightly larger) need 29–31 minutes to charge, which is also longer. All of these competing models also have smaller batteries and shorter ranges at a similar or higher price.

The mentioned range is 510 WLTP units for rear-wheel drive, and 470 WLTP units for all-wheel drive. Here, competitors perform better as they offer variants with larger packages and greater ranges. The 510 WLTP units actually equate to only (surprisingly?) 436 kilometers in urban or city-suburban driving conditions, 306 kilometers at 120 km/h, or 235 kilometers at 140 km/h with the battery depleted to zero [calculations by Elektrowozu editorial team]. Even a single engine should be sufficient for dynamic driving, delivering 230 kW/313 hp of power and enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.5 seconds.
When updating the model (Atto 3 -> Atto 3 Evo), unfortunately, the manufacturer retained most of the original design choices—perhaps this is why the car has limited popularity? The silver strip on the front sets the BYD models apart, but it doesn’t look very attractive. The rounded air vent grilles and the “string-like” elements in the door trunks also fall short aesthetically. On the positive side, the finish and equipment are impressive: for the mentioned price of 163,440 złoty (Design edition), we get features such as 360-degree cameras, an actively cooled phone wireless charger, perforated leather-like upholstery (soft; heated and ventilated driver’s seat), and a two-zone climate control system.
Despite a trunk with a capacity of 490 liters, all passengers should have ample space, as the Elektrowoz editor (1.9 meters tall) was able to fit inside it. It only gets tight in the space under the seat (for feet). If you have an extra 11,000 zlotys, you can get the Excellence version with all-wheel drive for 174,440 zlotys (HERE), featuring 330 kW/449 HP, a glass panoramic roof with electric sunroof, heated rear seats, and a head-up display (HUD).
