BYD accelerates its expansion in Spain with 11 new dealerships and is already preparing to enter Andorra

BYD continues to expand its commercial presence in Spain by adding 11 new distribution groups to its dealership network. It has also announced the opening of its first official dealership in Andorra, scheduled for the coming months. With these moves, the company aims to strengthen its commercial structure in a market where its sales volume in the first eight months of 2026 has already surpassed that of the entire previous year.

This expansion brings BYD’s network in Spain to 107 official dealerships and 86 authorized service centers, with the goal of reaching 130 sales outlets and 120 service centers by the end of 2026. To meet this target, it still needs to add 23 dealerships in the approximately three and a half months left of the year.

BYD’s network in Spain has seen rapid growth in recent years

At the end of 2023, the brand had only 10 dealerships, a figure that rose to 27 by the end of 2024 and exceeded 100 during 2025. The company believes that reaching 130 sales outlets would cover approximately 97% of the Spanish market, after which the strategy involves opening additional outlets in larger markets.

It is now supporting that offensive by adding distributors with extensive experience in various regions of the country. In the Community of Madrid, BYD has signed agreements with Grupo Gil, a Madrid-based distributor since 1981, and Grupo Alvisa, which has over 25 years of experience in the sector. In Barcelona, Movento, Moventia’s private mobility division, and Auto Almogàvers have joined forces.

Grupo Easo Motor will be responsible for the brand’s presence in Gipuzkoa, while in the Balearic Islands, Grupo Martí, active in Manacor, and Proa Group will cover Menorca and Ibiza. Grupo Tobalo will operate in Lucena, Córdoba; Peumovil will have a presence in Dénia and Finestrat, near Benidorm; and Motor Mudéjar will cover Teruel. In Castilla y León, Busanauto will open outlets in Zamora, Benavente, and Ponferrada, areas that previously did not have BYD coverage. The next step will be entering Andorra, where Pyrénées Motors, part of Grupo Pyrénées, will be responsible for opening BYD’s first official dealership in the principality.

The expansion of the network occurs alongside rising sales.

BYD recorded 29,947 sales in Spain from January to August, a figure that already exceeds the 25,552 units registered throughout 2025. In August alone, the company sold 3,191 vehicles, representing a 74.7% increase compared to the same month last year, placing it as the seventh most registered brand in Spain’s market that month.

This commercial growth stems from an increasingly broad range of models, comprising nearly 20 vehicles. Among them stands the Atto 2, one of the brand’s latest additions that accounts for a significant portion of its sales in Spain. According to BYD’s data, the Atto 2 DM-i, equipped with plug-in hybrid technology, has accumulated 8,403 registrations by August and was the best-selling plug-in hybrid in the country per the company’s records.

In the overall Spanish market, BYD had 29,947 registrations by August, accounting for roughly 3.7% of a market totaling 818,201 vehicles. In the electric vehicle segment, its 11,943 units registered by August placed the brand ahead of Tesla, which had 9,733 units. Additionally, over 60% of BYD’s sales in Spain during the year came from plug-in hybrid vehicles.

With these figures, the company also maintains an ambitious target for the end of the year, aiming to exceed 50,000 registrations in Spain by 2026 and rank among the top five best-selling brands to private customers. To achieve this, after reaching 29,947 units by August, it would need to register around 20,000 vehicles in the final four months of the year.
