Charging stations: French condominiums are finally moving at full speed
Charging in multi-unit buildings continues to gain momentum in France. By the second quarter of 2026, over 18,000 such buildings already had dedicated charging infrastructure installed, representing a 45% increase in just one year. The number of charging stations also rose significantly, reaching more than 44,000 units.
While installing a charging station in a single house is relatively simple, the process becomes much more complex when dealing with multi-unit buildings... However, the latest figures released by Avere-France show that the situation is evolving rapidly. In the second quarter of 2026, 43,648 buildings had approved the installation of collective charging infrastructure. This represents a 17% increase from the previous year.
An increasing number of condominiums are taking action
This figure now represents about 17% of multi-unit buildings with parking in France. But the most interesting statistic relates to installations that have already been completed. By the end of the second quarter, 18,289 buildings were equipped with such systems, compared to 12,628 a year earlier. This represents a 45% increase in just twelve months. For context, only 10,595 buildings were equipped at the end of 2024.

44,331 charging points already installed
The same trend is evident among charging stations. The number of charging points installed in multi-family residential buildings has now reached 44,331 units, up from 32,069 in the second quarter of 2025—a 38% increase in one year. It should be noted that this figure only includes charging points funded by the Advenir program, a scheme managed by Avere-France that provides financial support for installing charging stations in condominiums.
A long way to go
But it’s not all won yet! France has around 252,000 multi-unit buildings equipped with parking. With only 18,289 buildings actually fitted out, the installation rate is just 7.2%... The effort is certainly underway, but it’s far from sufficient. For electric car drivers living in apartments, being able to charge easily at home is still a long way from becoming the norm.
