The BMW iX3 is arriving in the U.S. market sooner than expected.
Due to strong customer demand, BMW North America is accelerating the launch of the electric SUV iX3 ahead of schedule. Deliveries are said to have begun earlier than planned. In the U.S., the BMW iX3 50 xDrive can be ordered starting at $61,500.

In Europe, the BMW iX3 has been in delivery for several months already, while in the U.S., customers are officially still waiting for shipments to begin. These are scheduled for September 25, 2026. However, according to websites Bimmerpost and Electrek, deliveries may have already started ahead of schedule—for example, at one dealer in California, they began 10 days before the official date. “Strong customer demand” is cited as the reason. In the U.S., the current model available is the 2027 BMW iX3 50 xDrive, which is the all-wheel-drive version of the electric SUV with an EPA-estimated range of up to 434 miles. With a DC charging capacity of up to 400 kW, the iX3 can add 231 miles of range in 10 minutes, according to U.S. specifications. BMW North America lists the price starting at $61,500.
Basically, the iX3 is BMW’s first model in its new class, meaning the new electric vehicle generation from Munich. The E-SUV i is currently available in Europe in two variants: the DeriX3 50 xDrive, which is the all-wheel-drive version listed above, and since the end of May, the RWD variant iX3 40 can also be ordered in Europe. All iX3 variants are currently produced solely in Debrecen, Hungary. This means that the models for the North American market are also manufactured there before being shipped out. However, parallel production is planned in Mexico starting in 2027. Additionally, a locally produced long version of the iX3 is set to launch in China as well.
In Debrecen, BMW switched from a two-shift to a three-shift operation this very month — enabling round-the-clock production. The reason is high demand: BMW confirmed recently that 100,000 orders have been received solely in Europe for the BMW iX3 to date.
The manufacturer also emphasizes that the Hungarian plant managed to switch from mass production to a three-shift operation within about eight months. This was “the fastest ramp-up in production that any new BMW Group facility has ever experienced.” Specifically, BMW celebrated the start of production in Debrecen in October 2025. Actual mass production began a little later. In March, BMW already announced that it would increase operations to two shifts due to high demand. This September marked the next step, with production of the BMW iX3 now running on three shifts.
Regarding the model itself: For the U.S. market, BMW claims the electric SUV has a range of 383 to 434 miles and a power output of 463 hp. The 0-60 mph acceleration is said to take 4.7 seconds with this powertrain. BMW North America specifies a battery capacity of 112.2 kWh, an AC charging capacity of up to 15 kW, and a DC charging capacity of up to 400 kW. Additionally, the iX3 50 xDrive in North America is equipped with a bidirectional charging function, including V2L (2.4 kW), V2H (3.6 kW), and V2V (7.7 kW).
