Bentley’s first production electric car is here. The new Bentley Torcal, named after the Torcal de Antequera, is a 5-meter-long SUV closely related to the Porsche Cayenne Electric, sharing its platform (Volkswagen Group’s PPE). It is slightly smaller than the Bentayga (5125 mm), which is based on the conventional Cayenne.

The Torcal is easily recognizable as a Bentley, drawing inspiration from the brand’s previous models: its large rectangular grille, which is illuminated and features a rhombus pattern, pays homage to the 1990s Continental T. The long hood connects it to the company’s larger sedans, while the rear end resembles the 1952 R-Type Continental. The wheels are sized between 21 and 22 inches.

The shapes of the dashboard are inspired by the wings in Bentley’s logo. As expected, premium materials such as leather, wool, wood, and aluminum are used throughout the cabin. Bentley has chosen to retain the physical buttons on the steering wheel and center console; moreover, no second screen was installed in front of the passenger seat as it was deemed unnecessary. The seats come equipped with heating, ventilation, massage functions, 16-way adjustment, and adjustable side supports. The trunk has a capacity of 460 liters, along with a 90-liter frunk or front trunk space.

The range consists of two models: Torcal and Torcal S. The former delivers 821 HP and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h. The latter boasts 888 HP, enabling a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 2.9 seconds when Launch Control is activated, with a top speed of 260 km/h.

In both cases, the propulsion system consists of two permanent magnet synchronous motors, one for each axle, giving the vehicle four-wheel drive. The rear motor also features a self-locking differential. The battery has a capacity of 113 kWh and is made up of 192 pouch-type cells in total. The electrical architecture operates at 800 volts.

Its maximum range is 600 km according to WLTP standards. In terms of charging, it can reach a peak current of 400 kW, allowing it to go from 10% to 80% charge in less than 20 minutes (based on the figures announced for the Cayenne Electric, the exact time should be 16 minutes), regaining enough range equivalent to 161 km WLTP in just 7 minutes.

The active suspension features adaptive dual-valve shock absorbers, while the rear steering system (which can rotate up to 5 degrees) allows the turning radius to be reduced to 11.1 meters. The braking system includes 420 mm front discs and 370 mm rear discs. Carbon ceramic brakes measuring 440 mm in the front and 410 mm at the back are available as an option.

"For 107 years, Bentleys have been the most incredibly complete cars: effortless performance, exceptional comfort, exquisite British craftsmanship using the best natural materials [...]. Our new Torcal sets extraordinary standards in every important aspect," says Bentley’s President and CEO, Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser.
