With Stellantis, 1,000 sales outlets in Europe for Leapmotor

Now, the Chinese manufacturer of electric and hybrid vehicles, Leapmotor, is present in 36 European countries, including France.

147 sales outlets in France

Just like Japanese manufacturers starting from the 1960s, Chinese brands are arriving in Europe one after another with models that can be attractive for several reasons. Sometimes it’s due to their prices despite taxes that can exceed 45% (10% customs duty + surcharge). It could also be because of better equipment, longer range, or models in less diversified segments such as city cars, among others.

Just as with Toyota and its Yaris, we are now seeing projects to manufacture Chinese electric vehicles in Europe, even in France. To expand its presence here and across the European Union, Leapmotor relies on a partnership with Stellantis. And it’s working—by August 2026, the European market accounted for 27% of global deliveries for Leapmotor’s T03, B05, and B10 models.

This is a new record for the manufacturer, which now has 1,020 sales outlets in the EU, including 147 in France. Thus, Leapmotor is present in 80% of the region, with outlets in 36 countries, from Iceland in the west to Bulgaria in the east, including Malta.

The most recent openings have been in Norway and the Balkans, with more set to join the list before the end of 2026.

A Clear Dynamism Starting from Small Volumes

According to a press release from Stellantis dated September 22, 2026, “on average, European consumers are only 22 minutes by car from the nearest Leapmotor dealership.” The establishment of this joint venture also allows the Chinese automaker to benefit in Europe from a extensive after-sales service network, which helps reassure drivers.

Last month, this brand, which has been relatively unknown in our region in recent years, reached 100,000 units sold worldwide for the second time. To be precise: 103,129 units. Currently, monthly sales in France remain low, staying in the single digits.

In a recent article, L’Argus reports 4,707 new car deliveries in France for Leapmotor since the beginning of 2026. Despite a 158% increase indicating strong growth, this volume still accounts for only 0.4% of the market, placing the brand in 25th place among car manufacturers.

But we are now far from the makeshift situation seen two years ago, when Leapmotor T03 models were available for long-term rental at just 100 euros per month in Leclerc stores (our photos taken in April 2024 in Bar-le-Duc, Lorraine).
