The avatar showcased the flagship SUV of the 9 series. It is the first model made entirely by Huawei from start to finish.

Avatr has unveiled the body of its large 6-seater SUV in the 9 series, with a launch expected by the end of 2026. The Chinese brand states outright that this is its first model developed “in full partnership” with Huawei, not just featuring an ADAS package and a specific cockpit design. This sounds more like a challenge to the Aito M9 and Li Auto L9 rather than just another variant of an existing car.

So far, only three photos have been released, and the final model name has not even been disclosed. However, the design shows a closed grille with a dot pattern, separated headlights, a boxy silhouette, and a LiDAR unit on the front roof.

Avatr has not confirmed the specifications of the sensor, but everything points to Huawei’s 896-channel LiDAR with dual optical paths—the same one used in the Avatr 07L shown last month. If that’s the case, the new SUV will come equipped with top-tier hardware, at least on paper.

Yong Jun, the brand’s vice president, previously said it would be a large 6-seater SUV, the first Avatr vehicle created with Huawei “in the truest sense of the word.” This represents a broader scope than before, as in addition to intelligent driving and cockpit features, systems for vehicle control, lighting, and voice commands will also be included.

In short: previously, Huawei was a key supplier for Avatr. Now it aims to be a co-creator of the entire vehicle. This represents a more significant test for this partnership.

Avatr aims to rise higher and earn more from cars

The new model will enter a highly competitive segment of large, family-oriented luxury vehicles in China. The rivals are clear: Aito M9, Li Auto L9, Denza N9, and IM LS9. Each of these cars competes not only in terms of features but also in brand prestige.

For Avatr, this debut holds more significance than its brand image alone. The company sold 35,250 vehicles in the first 7 months of 2026, averaging around 5,040 per month. This figure is clearly weaker than that of Nio or Xpeng. Not good.

Last month, Avatr introduced the 07L at a starting price of 219,900 yuan, which is approximately 129,000 zł at the current exchange rate, positioning it against the Xiaomi YU7. The Series 9 is set to enter at a higher price point, so it should improve the product mix and profit margin per unit — assuming customers are willing to buy into the “full collaboration with Huawei” narrative rather than just the brand logo.

Meanwhile, the battle for a Hong Kong stock listing continues

Parallel to this, Avatr is trying to list on the Hong Kong stock market. At the end of June, the company submitted another application because its previous prospectus expired.

The documents show that the company’s revenue in 2025 was 25.63 billion yuan, with the net loss decreasing to 3.49 billion yuan and the gross margin rising to 9.4%. The figures are improving, but we’re still talking about a company that hasn’t yet reached scale.

This SUV could therefore do two things for Avatr at once: boost its prestige and test whether the partnership with Huawei can sell cars rather than just slides. What do you think? Does the Series 9 have a chance to threaten the Aito M9 and Li Auto L9?
