2026 Automobile Awards: 250 to 300 submissions expected by the end of September
The 2026 Automobile Awards ceremony bringing together key players in the automotive industry

57 brands at the 2026 Automobile Awards by MeetDeal. This year’s edition sets a new record. This figure is not just an indicator of the event’s success: it truly reflects an automotive industry in full transformation.

New players joining Europe’s established giants

The 2026 edition stands out with 57 brands registered, including manufacturers and suppliers. The previous record was set in 2024 with 56 submissions. In just two years, the Automobile Awards have not only regained momentum after the crisis but also reached a new level. Around 250 to 300 submissions are expected by September 30 across the 21 categories competing:

15 dedicated to manufacturers

6 for technology providers and tire manufacturers.

This is the highest number since the competition’s inception in 2018. What catches attention about this list of 57 brands is its geographic diversity. Alongside European giants (Volkswagen, Mercedes, BMW, Renault, and the full Stellantis lineup), there are Chinese brands actively expanding in France: BYD, Leapmotor, XPENG, Zeekr, Denza, Chery, Omoda, Jaecoo, Geely.

Updated categories to reflect market realities

The most significant change in this edition relates to electric vehicles. The single “Full Electric” category is now divided into two distinct segments: “Full Electric Main Stream” for vehicles priced below 47,000 € (the threshold for the “boost” subsidy) and “Full Electric Premium” for those above that price. This isn’t just about clarity—it’s an acknowledgment that comparing a Dacia Spring and a Porsche Taycan in the same category makes no industrial or commercial sense. Automobile Propre sponsors the Main Stream category, and our editor-in-chief, Pierre Desjardins, will present this award in December.

Two other adjustments deserve attention. The “Connected Car” and “Secure Car” categories are merged into a single “Techno Car” category sponsored by UTAC, reflecting the true convergence of these two aspects in today’s electronic architectures. Meanwhile, MeetDeal, the new headline partner, has created a “Pure Driving Pleasure” category open to all engine types, with a sales price cap of 50,000 €. The criterion stated is clear: only the driving experience matters. This is a bold editorial choice that stands in contrast to the trend of justifying everything with data.

The 20-member jury, which includes our editor-in-chief at Automobile Propre and is honorary chaired by Yann de Pontbriand (ACF), brings together representatives from Mobilians, L’Équipe, Canal+, M6, Sud Radio, Challenges, and Roole, providing rare media and institutional coverage for a private competition.

This 2026 edition confirms that the Automobile Awards have found their niche: a professional competition grounded in the commercial realities of the market. The ceremony on December 17th in Paris will be the true indicator—not the number of trophies awarded, but who will be in attendance.
