Amazon acquires the first eActros 600 in Germany
Mercedes-Benz Trucks has delivered the first 27 eActros 600 units to Amazon in Germany. By the end of 2026, over 50 of these electric trucks are set to be operating for the online retailer in the country.

The trucks come from the large order placed by Amazon in early 2025 for over 200 eActros 600 units. Around 140 of these were designated for the UK from the start, while about 50 were intended for Germany. The first vehicles under this order began operating in the UK at the end of 2025. Now, delivery to the German market is also starting on a larger scale.
Amazon will deploy the eActros 600 on what is known as the intermediate mile, that is, for deliveries between logistics centers and urban areas. The companies have not disclosed how the more than 50 vehicles will be distributed across various locations and routes in Germany, nor what mileage targets are set.
This large order followed a practical test using a production-ready prototype of the eActros 600 at an Amazon logistics center in Germany. Amazon has also been using heavy electric trucks in the country for several years; for example, the company ordered 20 Volvo FH Electric units in 2022 for its German delivery network.
Amazon Expands Its Electric Truck Fleet and Charging Infrastructure
The eActros 600 has been produced in series since late 2024 at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth am Rhein. Its three LFP battery packs have a total installed capacity of 621 kWh. Mercedes-Benz Trucks claims a range of around 500 kilometers without recharging. The vehicle can be charged at up to 400 kW using CCS.
Amazon says it is installing several hundred truck charging stations at its European locations to expand its electric truck fleet. Under specific conditions, the eActros 600 can be charged from 20% to 80% in just over an hour at 400 kW. The current announcement does not specify how many such charging stations Amazon already operates in Germany.
Alexa total, Amazon plans to invest over one billion euros in electrifying and decarbonizing its European logistics network, with more than 400 million euros going to Germany. However, these investment targets are not new: Amazon announced them in 2022 as part of a five-year plan. At that time, the company also pledged to expand its European electric truck fleet from 38 to over 1,500 vehicles, including more than 500 in Germany. Amazon did not specify a timeline for achieving this fleet goal.
The current delivery marks less of a beginning and more of an expansion of battery-electric heavy-duty transportation at Amazon in Germany. Meanwhile, the company is also exploring other procurement models. In the U.S., for example, 75 electric trucks are set to be integrated into the middle-mile delivery network through Einride. What stands out most about the Mercedes order is its scale.
