Alpine is advancing with 4 new electric sports cars

Alpine is making a push, developing a new generation of electric sports cars. Following the highly anticipated debut of the electric A110, a Spider version and two 2+2 models — a coupe and a convertible — will follow. However, with this new platform, the French brand isn’t closing the door on internal combustion engines.
Alpine in the Offensive: The Future Is Written by the Electric A110
At the heart of this French brand under Renault’s umbrella is the third generation of the Alpine A110. This model is set to mark the transition of this sports coupe to a new electric architecture, with its official debut expected by the end of 2027.
After the first prototype was unveiled at the Goodwood Festival in the summer, there is curiosity about what the final version of the car will look like. According to CEO Philippe Krief, around 95% of the vehicle’s components will be new. This is not merely an evolution of the current model but a project that aims to retain the character of the iconic A110 while completely changing its technical foundation.
In terms of style, the proportions are expected to remain similar to those of the contemporary Berlinette, with a recognizable silhouette. The real breakthrough will lie beneath the bodywork.
From Spider to 2+2 convertible: new sports cars on the way?
According to the plans, the new A110 is expected to be just the first piece of a more extensive lineup. Alpine intends to launch a two-seater Spider version with a fabric roof first, followed by two 2+2 sports models, a coupe, and a cabriolet, both with fabric roofs.
It remains unclear how the four models will differ in terms of performance, price, and positioning, aspects regarding which the manufacturer has not yet provided definitive details.
Alpine’s Push: Not Just Electric, Flexibility Is the Goal
The most interesting aspect relates to the configuration of the Alpine Performance Platform (APP), the new platform on which the project is being developed. Although it was initially designed for electric vehicles only, Alpine has decided to make modifications to accommodate a combustion engine as well.
Even though no internal combustion engine models are currently planned for the new platform, Alpine still emphasizes technical flexibility. This is especially important from a commercial perspective outside Europe, where some markets—particularly North America—may require a strategy different from that intended for the European market. Alpine, on the other hand, is focusing heavily on electrification (the interesting A310 Vision concept was also unveiled in Paris).

For the French brand, the transition to electric vehicles is not in question, nor is it turned into an irreversible technical constraint. The priority remains launching the new A110, which will pave the way for a potential fully electric future. The option to use a combustion engine is, for now, only a viable choice if the market and industrial plans make it advantageous.
