ABB E-mobility and Elexon collaborate on depot charging infrastructure
ABB E-mobility and Elexon aim to jointly assist logistics companies and commercial vehicle fleets in electrifying their warehouses. To achieve this, the two companies are combining their offerings in Germany and Austria — ranging from charging technology to planning and installation, as well as operation and maintenance.

The two companies announced their strategic partnership at the IAA Transportation in Hanover. ABB E-mobility will contribute its DC charging technology to this collaboration, while Elexon is responsible for analysis and consulting, technical planning, implementation, as well as subsequent operation along with service and support. Energy and load management also fall under Elexon’s responsibilities.
As a certified partner of ABB E-mobility, Elexon is qualified to install, commission, and service the charging solutions — allowing fleet operators to have just one point of contact for their facilities.
Elexon actually develops the hardware and software for its own charging stations in-house, though it outsources production to manufacturing partners. Neither company reveals whether ABB’s technology will complement this portfolio or replace it in certain performance categories, nor do they address whether there is a joint commercial offering beyond certification.
"The economic viability of an electrified fleet is determined by the depot. Operators must coordinate the technology, construction, grid connection, and operation themselves, and it is precisely at this point that projects fail," explained Bruno Bourguet, President EMEA at ABB E-mobility. "Fleet operators need more than just charging hardware—they require a reliable, integrated solution that functions seamlessly from the grid connection to daily operation," said Marcus Scholz, CEO of Elexon.
The partners do not specify which products will be included in the joint offering. The announcement describes ABB E-mobility as one of the world’s “leading manufacturers of high-performance DC charging infrastructure,” offering fast-charging solutions to meet the needs of commercial vehicle fleets. It remains unclear whether the cooperation will be limited to this or also include AC charging stations for long-term use in depots.
Initially, the partnership will cover Germany and Austria. In the long term, ABB E-mobility and Elexon aim to expand their collaboration to other European markets. At the IAA Transportation, the partners will showcase their joint offering in Hall 13 at booth C11.
