The A2 will have a record-long speed measurement section until the end of 2026.

The longest section speed measurement will be on A2
On the A2 highway between Warsaw and Łódź, four measurement sections are planned to be installed, covering up to 157 kilometers of road surface in both directions. The longest of these will be 48 kilometers long and connect Koszajec with Michałówek. According to Szymon Piechowiak, spokesperson for the General Directorate of National Roads and Highways, the entire installation is set to become operational by the end of 2026. The work is directly related to expanding the A2 highway with additional lanes, aimed at significantly improving traffic flow and enhancing safety for all travelers.
How exactly will the cameras between Warsaw and Łódź function
Sectional speed measurement involves recording the time it takes for a vehicle to enter and exit a designated section of road, allowing an advanced system to accurately calculate the average speed traveled across the entire section. A tender for installing these devices was issued for two key routes, as confirmed by Wojciech Król from the Main Road Transport Inspection Agency. The routes under supervision are Koszajec-Michałówek and Dzierzgów-Niesułków. It is worth noting that the first sectional speed measurement in Poland was introduced on November 19, 2015, and since then this method has effectively enforced compliance with regulations by eliminating dangerous driving habits.
Speed limits and difficulties for drivers
During construction work, drivers must prepare for narrow road sections and highly variable traffic patterns. Speed limits will be imposed during the construction period, and on some of the more challenging sections, these limits may drop from 70 km/h to much lower values due to traffic jams and heavy congestion. The section between Koszajec and Michałówek will end just before the exit toward Łowicz and Skierniewice. The second section between Dzierzgowo and Niesułkowo will cover 30 km in the direction of Łódź and 31 km in the direction of Warsaw. The new regulations will require drivers to remain constantly vigilant over dozens of kilometers, demanding exceptional patience.
