At 60 years old, Spain’s best-selling hybrid Toyota introduces a range with more features and new versions

The Toyota Corolla celebrates its 60th anniversary with a range update that expands choice options and enhances safety, comfort, and technology features. The refresh applies to all three body styles available in Spain (5-door, Touring Sports, and Sedan), while continuing to focus exclusively on plug-in hybrid technology.

The new lineup includes the return of the Style trim to the 5-door Corolla, a special Style 60th Anniversary edition, and the new GR SPORT Plus. Prices start at 25,450 euros for the 5-door Corolla, 27,450 euros for the Corolla Touring Sports, and 30,050 euros for the Corolla Sedan.

60 Years of Success

The 60th anniversary of the Corolla is celebrated with a special edition called Style 60 Aniversario. It is available on the 5-door Corolla with Hybrid 140, and on the Touring Sports both with Hybrid 140 and Hybrid 200.

The main aesthetic difference lies in the exclusive two-tone Azul 60 Aniversario finish, along with 17-inch wheels and specific badges on the rear doors. The interior also features commemorative elements on the floor mats and door sills, as well as specific trim pieces.

The removable Toyota Skyview panoramic roof completes the equipment of this special edition, aiming to distinguish the Corolla without altering the hybrid mechanical setup that defines the model.

Two hybrid systems for the Corolla and the Style trim

The Corolla lineup offers two fifth-generation mechanical hybrid options. The Hybrid 140 combines a 1.8-liter gasoline engine with an electric system, delivering a combined power output of 140 horsepower, while the Hybrid 200 uses a 2.0-liter engine and achieves 178 horsepower.

Both models feature an e-CVT automatic transmission and come with an ECO environmental rating. In the 5-door Corolla, the Hybrid 140 has a combined fuel consumption of between 4.4 and 4.7 liters per 100 kilometers, whereas the Hybrid 200 has a consumption around 4.7 liters per 100 kilometers.

The Hybrid 140 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in about 9.2 seconds and reaches 180 km/h, while the Hybrid 200 reduces this time to approximately 7.5 seconds. For the Touring Sports, the official figures are 9.4 and 7.7 seconds respectively.

The Corolla Sedan is equipped exclusively with the Hybrid 140 system, offering 140 horsepower, a certified fuel consumption of 4.6 l/100 km, and CO₂ emissions of 104 g/km.

One of the main updates is the return of the Style trim to the five-door version, available with the Hybrid 140 system.

This version upgrades the safety features with items such as the blind spot monitor (BSM), safe exit assist (SEA), and rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA). It also includes 17-inch alloy wheels, upholstery combining recycled fabric and synthetic leather, Bi-LED headlights, heated front seats, and a Nanoe X ionizer.

The Toyota Skyview panoramic sunroof is available on the Style trim levels of the five-door and Touring Sports bodystyles. The Touring Sports model additionally features a power rear door with hands-free opening, adding another convenience feature.

The Corolla Sedan comes with its own Style Plus configuration, which includes a standard panoramic sunroof as an extra feature.

More Features for the GR SPORT

The update also enhances the sporty aspects of the Corolla. The GR SPORT trim now comes standard on the 5-door and Touring Sports bodystyles with BSM, SEA, and RCTA systems.

The Touring Sports model also features a power tailgate that opens hands-free. The lineup includes the new GR SPORT Plus, which is available for the first time on the 5-door Corolla paired with the Hybrid 140 engine.

This version offers a higher level of equipment compared to the standard GR SPORT and allows combining the sporty aesthetic of the GR SPORT family with the 140 HP hybrid powertrain.

Prices for the Three Bodystyles

The Corolla continues to be available in three different versions. The five-door compact model is 4.37 meters long and has a trunk capacity of up to 361 liters, while the Touring Sports version reaches 4.65 meters in length and offers up to 596 liters of storage space with the Hybrid 140 option.

The sedan completes the lineup for those seeking a traditional saloon and also features the Hybrid 140 system.

The starting prices for the current lineup are 25,450 euros for the Corolla 5-door in the Active trim, and 27,450 euros for the Corolla Touring Sports, also in the Active trim. The Corolla Sedan starts at 30,050 euros, this time in the Style Plus trim.

Toyota also offers the Toyota Easy Plus financing program, with monthly payments starting at 150 euros, along with associated services that include four years of warranty and maintenance, subject to the financing terms.
