72 Charging Stations: Enercity Electrifies Tide Quarter in Hamburg
The energy company Enercity provides central energy solutions for the Tide district in Hamburg’s Hafencity. This specialist in energy solutions is responsible there for tasks such as heating supply and charging infrastructure, as well as offering energy monitoring for the entire building complex.
The Tide Quarter in Hamburg, scheduled for completion this year, will include around 800 owner-occupied and rental apartments, a kindergarten, commercial and communal spaces, cultural facilities, and a student housing complex. It is being developed by real estate developer ParkProperty Europe. Enercity, an energy provider based in Hanover, is responsible for providing essential energy solutions such as district heating as well as charging infrastructure for this quarter. In total, 72 underground garage charging stations will be installed to enable residents to conveniently charge their electric vehicles on site.
"By doing this, Enercity supports the project beyond traditional energy supply and lays the foundation for long-term energy-efficient and future-ready building operations," say the officials. Another key component is energy monitoring for the entire building complex in accordance with the requirements of the HafenCity environmental certification.
The charging infrastructure package also includes load management to ensure controlled energy distribution, so that each connected electric vehicle charges at the same rate. This way, the charging infrastructure is directly integrated into the overall technical planning and thus becomes part of Tide’s mobility concept, writes Enercity. This concept relies not only on good connections to public transportation, cycling options, and carsharing but also on electrified personal transportation.
For Enercity, this Hamburg district serves as an example of the growing importance of holistic energy solutions in the housing sector: “Rather than individual products, interconnected solutions are now at the center, helping to support and optimize the operation of complex buildings or entire districts,” explains Nico Treder, head of B2B project business at Enercity. “It is precisely here that we focus on integrated concepts that combine technical excellence, cost efficiency, and sustainable urban development.” According to Enercity, it offers integrated energy concepts like those for Tide across the country, which consider electricity, heat, electric mobility, network services, and energy management together.
