5000 BYDs on their way to Norway

BYD Norway has never seen such a high number of vehicles arriving before. This fall, 5000 new BYD cars will reach the country.

Just a few years ago, Chinese cars were rare on Norwegian roads.

However, in the first half of 2026, Chinese brands accounted for 28 percent of the new electric vehicle market, surpassing European manufacturers in terms of market share.

Now, BYD’s importer RSA reports that all 5000 new BYD cars are on their way to Norway this fall. The deliveries come as Chinese car brands continue to strengthen their position in the Norwegian market.

One of China’s largest players

BYD has been among the brands that have contributed to this growth, with over 3,000 registrations from January to July. Only Volvo and XPeng had more registrations among Chinese brands.

According to RSA, the current supply consists largely of the BYD EVO and BYD Sealion models with all-wheel drive.

“This shows that Norwegian car buyers have been paying attention to BYD in recent years. We see clear and sustained growth, and the 5,000 vehicles currently on their way to the country offer great opportunities for those considering switching to BYD this fall,” said Frank Dunvold, CEO of RSA, in a press release.

RSA also notes that many customers want deliveries before the new year. Starting January 1, the tax threshold for electric vehicles is scheduled to drop from 300,000 to 150,000 kroner. This change requires approval from ESA.

According to the importer, the increase in fees could amount to around 40,000 kroner for some car buyers.
