GAC, one of China’s leading automobile groups, has introduced the AION UT Cross, an adventure-oriented version of its 100% electric utility vehicle designed for European drivers. It made its debut at the Paris Motor Show and will arrive at Spanish dealerships in the first quarter of 2027.
The new model joins the AION UT and AION V models that the brand already sells in Europe. The concept is simple: a vehicle that is as easy to drive as a utility vehicle, offers the space of a family car, and has the versatility and appearance of an SUV. In other words, a car for everything, from daily commutes to weekend trips.
Designed in Milan, with an adventurous vibe

The design was handled by GAC’s studio in Milan, with the aim of meeting European tastes. Externally, it features robust lines, wheel arch guards, and roof rails—typical traits of a crossover. Internally, the layout is simple and practical, with everything designed to make the most of the available space.
Its greatest advantage is the wheelbase of 2,750 millimeters. This figure translates to especially generous space for passengers in the rear seats. The trunk has a capacity of 440 liters, and by folding down the rear seats, a flat loading surface is created. Additionally, it features 24 cup holders throughout the cabin, useful for everyday use or carrying leisure items outdoors.
Adjustments specific to our roads
GAC has made specific chassis adjustments for European roads. It features 225-millimeter wide tires and a setup designed to better absorb potholes and improve ride comfort. The ground clearance is 147 millimeters, even when the vehicle is fully loaded. The brand claims this expands its usability on various road types, though it is a modest figure for a model with a camper-style aesthetic.
Rapid Charging and Safety

In terms of electrical performance, the brand only specifies a potential range of 400 kilometers (subject to approval) and a fast charging system that allows the battery level to go from 30% to 80% in 24 minutes. So far, GAC has not provided data on the battery capacity or the power of the electric motor. We can assume there will be no differences compared to the Aion UT’s 204 horsepower and 60 kW net battery capacity.
Regarding safety, 71% of the vehicle’s body structure is made of high-strength steel. It features seven airbags, including a V-shaped curtain airbag that is 2.1 meters long. It also incorporates the Magazine Battery technology, developed by GAC to enhance battery safety.
A highly competitive segment
The AION UT Cross will arrive in Spain in the first quarter of 2027 through Grupo Invicta, the brand’s importer, which is establishing a network of dealers across the country. The price, trim levels, and mechanical specifications remain unknown. With a range of 400 kilometers and efficient space utilization, it could be an interesting option for families looking for their first electric vehicle, provided the price is competitive. Its rivals include models such as the BYD Dolphin and Opel Corsa Electric, among many others.
