400 kW in a tiny charging station: Alpitronic is thinking about electric trucks
Alpitronic is expanding its range of products for electric heavy vehicles with a new, much more compact charging station. Capable of delivering up to 400 kW, this “Depot Dispenser” is designed for bus and truck depots where charging can be arranged during the long periods when vehicles are stationary.
The gradual electrification of bus and heavy vehicle fleets forces transport companies to completely rethink the layout of their depots. Alpitronic, well-known in Europe for its Hypercharger fast charging stations, now aims to further dominate this market with a new version of its HYC1000 system.

Up to 400 kW per charging point
Introduced in 2025, the HYC1000 features a design different from the brand’s conventional chargers. In fact, the power electronics are housed in a separate cabinet capable of delivering up to 1 MW. This cabinet can then distribute this power, in increments of 62.5 kW, across eight charging points.
The new “Depot Dispenser” complements this setup. With its CCS connector, it can supply up to 400 A and 400 kW, provided the vehicle accepts a voltage around 1,000 volts. This power level is more than sufficient for many depot applications, where trucks typically remain stationary for several hours.
A mini-charger…
Alpitronic offers several installation options: on a wall, a stand, or even a structure mounted above vehicles. Cables up to 7.5 meters long are available, particularly to enable charging from the ceiling.
…Minimalist
This charging station doesn’t have a touchscreen; it simply has an indicator light that shows the charging status. An RFID identification system is planned, and credit card or QR code readers can be added. This setup could allow temporary access to a warehouse for external vehicles.

With this new device, Alpitronic emphasizes one point: having 1 MW at each outlet in a depot is completely unnecessary. By distributing the available power among several trucks based on their parking time and needs, the operator reduces the required connection power. The “Depot Dispenser” will first be sold in Europe. Its price has not yet been announced.
