350,000 new personal and commercial BEV registrations and 320,000 electric vehicles on the roads

350,000 new personal and commercial BEV registrations and 320,000 electric vehicles on the roads

In short:

As of the end of September in Poland, there were a total of 166,057 BEV passenger and utility vehicles registered.

Since the beginning of the year, their number has increased by 34,286 units, representing about a 6% rise compared to the same period in 2025.

The fleet of zero-emission buses now totals nearly 3,000 units – an increase of over 530 percent!

By the end of September 2026, 321,466 electric-powered passenger cars were on Poland’s roads.

During that time, there were over 13,900 publicly available charging stations in the country.

Registrations continue to rise.

By the end of September, 321,466 electric passenger cars were on Polish roads. The fleet of fully electric passenger vehicles (BEVs) numbered 152,289, while the number of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) was 169,177. There were 15,016 electric trucks and commercial vehicles. The fleet of electric motorcycles is also growing steadily, with 33,437 units by the end of September this year. Meanwhile, the number of hybrid passenger and commercial vehicles increased to 1,539,656. At the end of last month, Poland’s zero-emission bus fleet rose to 2,949 units (of which 2,715 were fully electric and 234 were hydrogen-powered).

The charging infrastructure is also expanding in Poland. By the end of September 2026, there were 13,936 publicly available charging stations for electric vehicles in the country. Of these, 51% (7,113 stations) were fast DC charging stations, while 49% were slow AC charging stations with a power output of 22 kW or less. For 21% of the DC stations, AC charging can also be used as an alternative.

DC-Focused Braking

As Jan Wiśniewski, director of PSNM’s Research and Analysis Center, noted, Poland added 2,210 publicly accessible charging points in the first three quarters of this year, which is about 12% less than in the same period last year.

We are seeing a clear increase, however, in newly installed charging points in transit locations. From January to September 2026, 514 new charging points were set up along Poland’s sections of the TEN-T network, which is more than 90% higher than in the first 9 months of last year. Charging stations for electric heavy vehicles are currently available at 9 locations, the expert emphasized.

A Breakthrough Year

– By the end of September this year, over 166,000 battery-powered vehicles of all categories were on Polish roads, representing a nearly 50 percent increase compared to the end of September last year. A significant portion of these vehicles are new models that found buyers thanks to the NaszEauto subsidy program, which helped register a very large number of battery-powered passenger cars, especially at the turn of 2025/2026. Plug-in hybrid registrations are also doing very well, and—as I have emphasized many times—they do so without any support programs. In summary, there are roughly as many of these on our roads as battery-powered passenger cars today—added Jakub Faryś, President of PZPM.

Hoping for growth in eHDVs

According to the head of the automotive organization, it’s worth noting a 12 percent increase in registrations for classic hybrids, with the total reaching 1,539,656 units. There was also a significant rise of nearly 70 percent in the commercial and heavy vehicle segment, driven largely by registrations of trucks. I hope that with the launch of the support program for purchasing heavy vehicles—which just happened—the registrations of vehicles over 16 tons will see substantial growth. Motorcycle and moped registrations are performing very well as well, with an increase of 50 percent, Faryś emphasized.
