340 hp and 4.4 m³: The Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo comes in XL format with this new long version

Volkswagen’s powerful ID. Buzz Cargo now comes in a new long-wheelbase version. With an added 25 cm, this electric van offers more loading space, features an 86 kWh battery, and can now generate up to 340 horsepower.

Available for pre-order in Germany since September 23, 2026, the ID. Buzz Cargo Long Wheel Base targets professionals who found the standard version insufficient.

4.4 m³ of loading space thanks to the extra 25 cm

The 250 mm extension directly boosts the usable space. The floor length reaches 2,458 mm, increasing the loading volume to 4.4 m³—0.5 m³ more than before.

The maximum payload is 700 kg in rear-wheel drive mode and 606 kg with the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. A second sliding door is now standard equipment. Being 19 cm wider than that of the shorter model, it allows for direct loading of a European pallet from the side.

A wooden floor is also standard. The vehicle is available in two or three-seater configurations, with rear hinged doors available as an option to replace the tailgate.

Up to 340 hp and an 86 kWh battery

Volkswagen uses this longer version to increase the battery capacity to 86 kWh, compared to 79 kWh on the standard ID. Buzz Cargo. Two powertrains are offered: 210 kW (286 hp) in rear-wheel drive and 250 kW (340 hp) with the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. In both cases, the towing capacity reaches 1,800 kg with a braked trailer.

New Features on Board

The ID. Buzz Cargo LWB also comes equipped with the latest version of the ID. software. The Travel Assist can now recognize traffic lights and automatically stop the vehicle at a red light.

One-pedal driving is also available, with energy recovery until the vehicle comes to a complete stop. The Innovision system finally features a dedicated app store for streaming, parking, and charging functions.

In Germany, its price starts at 48,490 € before taxes for the drive-only version, which is about 2,340 € more than the standard wheelbase model. French prices will be announced when orders open in November.
