Holiday itinerary

Ten unhurried days on the Norwegian Scenic Route Geiranger-Trollstigen. Cloud snags on the eleven hairpins above Isterdalen, then the fjord opens like a dark hall and the Seven Sisters fall in white threads. Short driving days, ferries, and Tesla or Recharge stops in Alesund, Andalsnes, and Stryn keep the battery honest in the climbs.

Season: Trollstigen and the inner Geiranger road are typically gated from first snow until spring clearing (often late April to October; 2026 opened 27 April). Check Vegvesen trafikk. The Hellesylt-Geiranger ferry runs in season.

Holiday itinerary

  1. Day 1 · Alesund

Art-nouveau windows take the North Sea light until evening. Overnight on the hotel charger by Brosundet; tomorrow the road lifts toward Romsdal.

  2. Day 2 · Andalsnes

Romsdalshorn stands like a blade over the Rauma. We rolled into the Tesla with 22 percent after the fjord ledges and left at 82 while rain walked the platform.

  3. Day 3 · Andalsnes

A rest day under the Trollveggen. If Trollstigen is open, climb at first light before the coaches; otherwise walk the Rauma until the cloud lifts.

  4. Day 4 · Geiranger

The hairpins empty you to 18 percent; charge at Valldal, then the ferry or the inner road drops you into the village where cruise horns bounce off wet granite.

  5. Day 5 · Geiranger

Walk Flydalsjuvet and Ørnesvingen while the car sits on a destination charger. The Seven Sisters show only when the cloud is willing.

  6. Day 7 · Stryn

After the Hellesylt ferry the Nordfjord goes milk-blue under glaciers. Recharge in Stryn had a cafe and one stall free at 16:00.

  7. Day 8 · Loen

The Skylift leaves the car below and the lake looks like poured steel. Overnight destination charge; mountain wind ate a few percent even parked.

  8. Day 10 · Alesund

Back along the coast with a last Tesla at Moa. The town smells of salt and coffee; we left the car at 80 for the airport run.
