Holiday itinerary

Eight days around the Norwegian Scenic Route Atlanterhavsvegen: eight bridges hopping between skerries on Hustadvika, then Molde, Bud, and a quiet return through Romsdal. The road itself is only 36 km; the holiday is the weather walking over it and Tesla Superchargers in Kristiansund and Molde between storms.

Season: Open all year. Winter spray can close the bridges for hours; summer brings coaches. No mountain pass, so EV range is easy if wind is not a full gale.

Holiday itinerary

  1. Day 1 · Kristiansund

Clippings of Atlantic wind in the streets. Overnight Tesla; tomorrow the bridges.

  2. Day 2 · Bud

The road lifts and seems to fall into the sea. We charged in Averoy at 24 percent after lingering on Storseisundet in a squall.

  3. Day 4 · Molde

Roses and a jazz town under the Romsdal alps. Tesla Supercharger was empty at 21:00; we left at 85.

  4. Day 5 · Andalsnes

A detour to the Rauma valley if Trollstigen is not the point of this trip. Recharge by the river, then back toward the coast.

  5. Day 8 · Kristiansund

Home along the fjord ledges. Last stall at the Tesla, coffee tasting of diesel and rain.
