Holiday itinerary

Eight slow days on the Route des Vins d Alsace from Strasbourg to Colmar and Thann: half-timbered villages, Vosges light, and Electra or Tesla stops so you never rush a cellar. Distances are short on purpose.

Season: Open year-round. Best May-June and September. December is Christmas markets and tight parking. Vosges Route des Cretes can hold snow.

Holiday itinerary

  1. Day 1 · Strasbourg

The cathedral holds the evening. Overnight Tesla; tomorrow the vines begin at Marlenheim.

  2. Day 3 · Ribeauville

Riquewihr and Hunawihr in a light that makes timber look drunk. Electra in town after 28 percent — the villages are close.

  3. Day 5 · Colmar

Little Venice and a rest day. Tesla Supercharger on the ring; the old town is for walking.

  4. Day 6 · Eguisheim

Concentric lanes and a stork on a chimney. Destination charger at the guesthouse.

  5. Day 8 · Strasbourg

Back along the Rhine plain. Last Tesla; the cathedral is still catching the last light.
