Holiday itinerary
Eight days from Geneva through UNESCO Lavaux, Interlaken, and the Lauterbrunnen valley, then Lucerne and Pilatus. A compact Swiss lakes-and-peaks holiday: no forced high-pass gambling if the weather turns. You take the train into the mountain and let the water do the rest.
Season: No required high passes. The Jungfrau railway runs year-round; Lauterbrunnen’s waterfalls are fullest in late spring.

Holiday itinerary
- Day 1 · Geneva
Jet d’Eau and a lakeside first night. Tomorrow the vines of Lavaux begin almost as soon as you leave the city.
- Day 2 · Montreux
Drive the Lavaux corniche; Chillon in the evening. The lake is close enough to hear from the room.
- Day 3 · Thun
A castle town on Lake Thun. Walk the old town, then the shore until the Jungfrau shows between the hills.
- Day 4 · Interlaken
Höheweg with the Jungfrau at the end of the street, as if someone had aimed the town. Two lakes, one pause.
- Day 5 · Lauterbrunnen
A valley of seventy-two waterfalls; train to Kleine Scheidegg and Jungfraujoch. Leave the car. The weather up there is its own country.
- Day 7 · Lucerne
Chapel Bridge and the Pilatus cogwheel. A steamer if you have the hour; the lake here is a different blue.
- Day 8 · Geneva
Return via Bern or the A1. The lakes stay with you longer than the kilometres.
