Volkswagen confirms October premiere for the all‑new electric ID. Tiguan

Volkswagen is preparing to introduce one of its most important electric vehicles yet: the all‑new ID. Tiguan, set to make its world premiere in early October. The announcement marks a major milestone in the brand's strategy to carry its most successful model names into the era of full electrification, following the ID. Polo and ID. Cross.
According to Volkswagen, the ID. Tiguan will arrive on global markets at the beginning of 2027 and will serve as the electric successor to the ID.4 and ID.5. At the same time, the combustion‑engine and hybrid Tiguan models will continue to be offered, creating a dual‑lineup strategy aimed at supporting customers with different powertrain preferences.
Thomas Schäfer, CEO of the Volkswagen brand, emphasized the significance of the Tiguan nameplate, noting that more than 8.3 million units have been produced to date. He described the ID. Tiguan as a vehicle that "builds on the strengths of the bestseller" while bringing premium design, generous space, intuitive operation, and innovative technologies into Volkswagen's electric future.
The company highlights the continued dominance of the Tiguan in the global SUV market: together with its sister model, the Tayron, deliveries exceeded one million units last year. Meanwhile, the ID.4 and ID.5 have already achieved more than 950,000 deliveries since 2021, making them among Volkswagen's most successful battery‑electric vehicles.
The ID. Tiguan is currently undergoing testing under camouflage, with Volkswagen describing it as a new‑generation electric SUV featuring a completely new design and the visual presence of a larger segment. As a near‑production concept, it previews the next evolution of Volkswagen's electric SUV family and signals a stronger, more unified naming strategy for the brand’s BEV lineup.
