The Japanese company Suzuki has unveiled its first electric city car named the Suzuki eSky. This compact five-door hatchback is the production version of last year’s Vision e-Sky concept car, designed for overcrowded metropolises. The main feature of this new model is its unprecedentedly low price: thanks to local government subsidies of 568,000 yen ($3,600), the base version costs only 1,552,000 yen ($9,800) in its home market. Sales will begin in Japan on November 16, and by 2027 the electric vehicle will officially enter the European and British markets.

The appearance of the production city car retained similarities to the prototype, but it featured modified optics, different bumpers, practical door handles, and standard rear mirrors. To personalize the exterior, designers created two distinctive factory styling packages: the Mild Sporty package (with pink and blue decals and white mirrors) and the futuristic Neo Future package in an aggressive yellow-and-black theme.

The four-seater interior was designed with maximum emphasis on ergonomics. The vehicle comes equipped with a digital dashboard, a 10.1-inch touchscreen multimedia system in the flagship version, a physical climate control panel, and eco-friendly floor mats made from recycled polyester.

The Suzuki eSky is built on the new Heartect e platform. The vehicle features a compact e-Axle module that combines an electric motor, inverter, and reducer in one unit. In the European market, the engine will deliver 70 kW/95 hp. For the domestic Japanese market, the power output was deliberately reduced to 47 kW/64 hp to meet strict kei-car regulations. A lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery with a capacity of 26 kWh is integrated into the vehicle’s floor. It provides a substantial range for its size—up to 310 km per WLTC cycle. The electric car supports fast DC charging at 50 kW.
