Sales of the first electric supercar, Denza Z, have begun.

The premium automotive brand Denza, owned by the Chinese conglomerate BYD, has begun large-scale deliveries of its first all-electric supercar, labeled Z, to official dealerships across China. Full commercial sales of the new vehicle are scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year. Pre-orders in China are being accepted at an initial price of 680,000 yuan ($101,090). The manufacturer has also opened orders in the United Kingdom, where the base model will cost buyers 142,900 pounds sterling ($193,540).

The Track Edition is painted in orange, features a robust carbon fiber body kit with a large rear spoiler to enhance downforce, black wheels fitted with tires of different sizes (275/35 at the front and 325/30 at the rear), and orange brake calipers. This version is equipped with pull-out door handles and can reach a top speed of 350 km/h. The interior of the track version includes more carbon fiber elements and vibrant accents.

The powertrain of both versions is based on an advanced three-motor architecture. One electric motor with a capacity of 500 kW (680 horsepower) is mounted on the front axle, while the rear wheels are individually driven by two motors with a combined output of 680 kW (925 horsepower). The system’s total peak power reaches an impressive 1180 kW, equivalent to 1605 horsepower. The supercar can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.96 seconds.

The Denza brand was established in 2010 as a 50:50 equal partnership between the Chinese conglomerate BYD and the German automotive giant Daimler AG. The main goal of the alliance was to combine German premium expertise in design and ergonomics with Chinese electric vehicle technologies. However, during the first decade, the brand remained niche due to poor sales of its early electric models. The situation changed drastically at the end of 2021 when BYD increased its stake to 90% and took full control of technical management. Under BYD’s complete oversight, the brand underwent a complete reboot, transforming into a successful manufacturer of premium minivans and SUVs, while the introduction of the 1,605-horsepower Denza Z supercar demonstrates the brand’s entry into the higher tier of the global sports car industry.
