The Ukrainian market for eco-friendly vehicles continues to show steady growth, with the majority of registrations coming from used cars. According to official data from the “Ukravtoprom” association, over 4,200 vehicles powered entirely by electricity (BEV) were added to the domestic fleet last month. In terms of sales distribution, Lviv region unexpectedly took the lead, surpassing the capital in the total number of electric cars registered. Meanwhile, the secondary market accounts for a vast proportion of sales in all leading regions, ranging from 67% to 98%.
In the ranking of leading regions, Lviv Oblast took first place with 687 registered electric vehicles, 96% of which were used cars. Kyiv finished in second place, with 356 units registered (67% used). The suburban Kyiv Oblast held third place, with 315 vehicles (76% used). The top five largest markets were completed by Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, with 266 cars (85% used), and Rivne Oblast, whose dealers delivered 262 vehicles, 98% of which were from the used market.
In the segment of completely new electric vehicles, Ukrainians' interest is divided between technologically advanced Chinese SUVs and Japanese classics. The BYD Sea Lion 06 EV has topped the charts in car dealerships in the Lviv, Kyiv, and Dnipro regions. In the capital, buyers of new cars favored the premium electric SUV Zeekr 7X, while in the Rivne region, the Toyota bZ4X SUV was the most popular.
In the secondary market for imported used cars, American and Japanese bestsellers hold a leading position.
