Skoda Peaq sets record: 936 km without recharging
It all started with an idea from two Škoda employees — Marek Jež and Jakub Krs — about how far the new electric seven-seater Škoda Peaq could travel on a single charge from its 91 kWh battery. To find out, they drove from Mladá Boleslav to the Netherlands. The production version of the Škoda Peaq covered 936 km without recharging. The record drive was monitored by the certification body TÜV SÜD.
"We wanted to demonstrate what technologies are capable of when pushed to their limits. To maximize range, we chose the most suitable route and, of course, adjusted our driving style accordingly," says Jakub Krs, one of the drivers in the record drive and responsible for Škoda Auto’s strategy for high-voltage battery development.
"In everyday use, customers are unlikely to drive the car in such a mode. Instead, they will be able to fully utilize all of Peaq’s advantages — its performance, multimedia features, and comfort," adds his colleague and co-driver Marek Jež, head of the Peaq model series.
The Škoda Peaq 90 has a certified range of up to 647 km under the WLTP cycle, which takes into account all driving conditions specified by law. The seven-seater Peaq’s record-breaking range of 936 km exceeds this figure by 289 km, or nearly 45%.
The test was conducted on a production Škoda Peaq 90 equipped with a 91 kWh traction battery, a 210 kW electric motor, rear-wheel drive, and 19-inch wheels with standard low-rolling-resistance tires. The carefully optimized aerodynamics of the Peaq model series result in an aerodynamic drag coefficient of Cd 0.249.
The largest and most spacious SUV in the Škoda lineup set off on a record-breaking journey from the company’s headquarters in Mladá Boleslav at noon on Tuesday, August 25. The team traveled through Germany, making stops for driver changes, rest, and meals. Early Wednesday morning, the crew reached the Netherlands, concluding the trip on the North Sea coast in the resort town of Zandvoort. Without any battery recharging, the seven-seater Škoda Peaq covered 936 km with an average energy consumption of just 9.2 kWh/100 km.
The Škoda Peaq is produced at the company’s main factory in Mladá Boleslav. The model features a range of new technologies and solutions for the brand, including flush-mounted door handles, a panoramic roof with Dynamic Shade Control technology, and two-way charging.
The new Škoda flagship has received very positive feedback from customers: the company has already received over 10,000 orders so far.
