Eco-friendly transportation continues to rapidly expand its presence in Ukraine’s used and new car markets. According to the “Ukravtoprom” association, 22.2 thousand passenger electric vehicles (BEVs) were added to the domestic fleet in the first eight months of this year. Meanwhile, imports still show a significant gap in favor of used vehicles: 18.5 thousand used electric cars were imported from abroad, while demand for brand-new vehicles from dealerships amounted to 3.7 thousand units.

In the rankings of new electric vehicle registrations, brands from China dominate, attracting buyers with a favorable combination of price, advanced technology, and large batteries. The BYD Sea Lion 06 EV crossover topped the list with 534 units registered. It was closely followed by the BYD Leopard 3 SUV (493 units), while the premium liftback Zeekr 001 took third place (311 units). The fourth and fifth positions were held by the German-made but Chinese-assembled Volkswagen ID.Unyx coupe-crossover (271 units) and the new urban SUV Zeekr 7X (244 units).

In the used electric vehicle segment, the midsize crossover Tesla Model Y leads with 2,471 units sold, followed by the veteran of Ukrainian roads Nissan Leaf at 2,429 units, https://youtu.be/FIt9TsI7IoM, and the Tesla Model 3 sedan in third place with 2,291 units sold, https://youtu.be/vPCJSdVN1IM. The top five in used imported vehicles are completed by the affordable and popular hatchbacks Chevrolet Bolt with 1,021 units sold, https://youtu.be/U6sXay6sIWA, and Kia Niro EV with 831 units sold.
