The primary and secondary automotive markets in Ukraine showed strong demand for vehicles with hybrid powertrains in September 2026. According to official data from the “Ukravtoprom” association, over 3,800 hybrid passenger cars were added to the domestic fleet last month (including traditional plug-in hybrids HEV and rechargeable plug-in hybrids PHEV). On an annual basis, demand for gasoline-electric vehicles increased by 44%. Meanwhile, the sales structure shifted significantly toward used cars: the share of new vehicles dropped to 40% (compared to 52% in September of the previous year), while the majority of registrations came from second-hand cars imported from abroad.

In the segment of new passenger hybrid vehicles, the Japanese crossover Toyota RAV4 remains the undisputed market leader and favorite among Ukrainians, with its dealers having completed 316 registrations. The Toyota Camry, a business sedan, firmly holds second place with 104 units sold, reinforcing the Japanese brand’s dominance in this market. The compact crossover Nissan Qashqai claims honorable third place in popularity, with 75 units sold.

Among imported used hybrid vehicles that have been registered under Ukrainian plates, American automakers lead the way. The absolute leader is the Ford Fusion assembled in the United States (159 units). The top three also include the family crossover Ford Escape (146 units) and the compact Korean SUV Kia Niro, which was purchased by 127 Ukrainians.
