Lexus unveiled the updated NX crossover.
The Japanese luxury brand Lexus has officially unveiled a heavily modernized version of its subcompact crossover NX, undergoing a major restyle five years after the debut of the second-generation models. The vehicle, which is the brand’s second-best seller globally after the larger RX lineup, features significant design changes, a completely redesigned interior space, and a thorough overhaul of the chassis powertrain. Official European deliveries are scheduled for spring 2027.
The updated crossover features a more aggressive front end with new LED matrix headlight units, a different three-dimensional design for the Spindle grille, and modified triangular air intakes on the bumper. Designers removed all previous chrome trim from the side profile, while the rear now features L-shaped LED patterns that surround the illuminated brand logo. The passenger cabin length increased by 30 mm, reaching 4690 mm, with the wheelbase remaining unchanged at 2690 mm. The F Sport version adds black glossy finishes, original 20-inch wheels, and bright red brake calipers. The paint palette was expanded with new premium shades, including Platinum Sonic Platinum and Khaki Sonic Tellus.
The passenger cabin has been completely redesigned, adopting the new architecture from the latest Lexus ES sedan. The center of the dashboard features a standalone 14-inch touchscreen for the multimedia system, equipped with the latest Lexus Connect software, working alongside a 12.3-inch virtual instrument panel. A key design element is the use of hidden physical buttons with tactile feedback that visually blend in completely with the decorative panels and disappear when the vehicle is turned off. Eco-friendly Forged Bamboo veneer, composed of 55% biomaterials, is used for interior finishing. Top trims are equipped with the Sensory Concierge package, which synchronizes ambient lighting, monitor displays, climate control, and an integrated personal fragrance misting system available in three modes: Inspire, Radiance, and Revitalise.
The modernization also affected the body stiffness on the TNGA-K platform and the suspension settings. Both available eco-friendly versions are equipped with the sixth generation of Lexus’s proprietary hybrid technology. The power management unit and transmission were combined into a single lightweight eAxle module, reducing the chassis weight by 10 kg. The self-charging NX 350h, powered by a 2.5-liter engine, delivers between 190 and 245 horsepower. For certain markets, a base front-wheel-drive NX 300h version with a 2-liter engine and 197 horsepower was also developed. The flagship plug-in hybrid NX 450h+ (with 292 to 326 horsepower) features an upgraded lithium-ion battery, whose capacity was increased from 18 to 23 kWh, as well as support for fast DC charging. As a result, its electric-only range under the European WLTP cycle increased by 26 km, reaching a solid 100 km.
