Lexus ES BEVs return in 2027 with an EPA range up to 307 mi

Lexus ES BEVs return in 2027 with an EPA range up to 307 mi

Lexus is extending its push into luxury electric sedans with the return of the ES battery‑electric lineup for the 2027 model year. The Lexus ES 350e and the Lexus ES 500e carry over unchanged from their debut last year, but they arrive with the full weight of Lexus' updated design language, a new multi‑pathway platform, and a competitive EPA‑estimated driving range that reaches up to 307 miles on a full charge.

The BEV duo shares its architecture with the ES 350h hybrid, but the electric variants distinguish themselves with a smoother, closed‑off front fascia, a power‑operated charging door, and a drag coefficient as low as 0.25. Both models use a 74.7‑kWh lithium‑ion battery mounted beneath the cabin floor. The ES 350e is front‑wheel drive with a 221‑hp motor, while the ES 500e adds a rear motor for 338 hp and Lexus’ DIRECT4 all‑wheel‑drive system.

Charging performance remains a highlight. Under ideal conditions, DC fast charging can take the ES BEV models from 10 to 80 percent in about 28 minutes, and Lexus now includes a NACS port plus a CCS‑to‑NACS adapter to ensure compatibility with more than 76,000 public charging stations across the U.S.

Inside, the 2027 Lexus ES embraces the brand's latest minimalist‑luxury aesthetic. A 14‑inch touchscreen and a new 12.3‑inch driver display are standard, running the updated Lexus Interface system with cloud navigation, dual Bluetooth connectivity, OTA updates, and an integrated drive recorder. Premium trims feature NuLuxe upholstery, while Luxury models upgrade to semi‑aniline leather and a striking bamboo‑layered ambient lighting design. The ES 350e Luxury also offers an Executive Package that transforms the rear cabin with power‑adjustable seats, heating, ventilation, massage functions, plush headrests, and a deployable ottoman.

Safety technology is equally comprehensive. Lexus Safety System+ 4.0 returns with more natural intervention behavior and expanded features, including Intersection Turn Assist, Risk Avoidance Emergency Steer Assist, and enhanced radar cruise control with Eco‑Run mode. Luxury trims add Traffic Jam Assist and Lane Change Assist, with both features available on Premium models.

The 2027 ES BEV lineup arrives in September, starting at $49,005 for the ES 350e Premium and $52,005 for the ES 500e Premium AWD. Luxury trims begin at $57,405 and $60,405, respectively.
