Jaguar shows interior of electric GT Type 01 before premiere

Jaguar has revealed initial glimpses of the interior of the Type 01, offering another glimpse ahead of its world premiere in New York at the beginning of October. This four-door electric Gran Turismo marks the start of a new model generation for the British brand and brings the design language of the concept car Type 00 to a production model for the first time. The prototype is already being shown publicly, and it will make its North American debut at the Monterey Car Week with a specially designed livery.
The central element of the interior is a center console that runs the full length of the cockpit. It emphasizes the car’s sleek linear design and divides the interior into four distinct areas, a concept directly borrowed from the Type 00 study. The cockpit is tailored to the driver, with a low seating position that fits the person perfectly and aims to deliver a confident driving experience.
Chief Interior Designer Thomas Holden explains the design approach: “Unlike traditional horizontally oriented interiors, we use the center console to highlight a prominent longitudinal axis.” Jaguar views this longitudinal axis as an architectural statement that separates the four zones within the interior.

Jaguar relies on natural travertine stone and high-quality crafted materials when selecting its interior components. A brass-inspired finish runs from the central console along the door panels throughout the entire cabin, accompanied by the Jaguar Leaper, the brand’s signature element.
Digital features remain hidden until needed
Continuous line structures visually connect the hood to the slim dashboard, blurring the boundary between the interior and exterior spaces. The infotainment system is also part of this design philosophy, aiming to simplify daily tasks and make digital interfaces easily accessible whenever needed. A digital ClearSight rearview mirror display is positioned centrally at the lower edge of the windshield, at the same height as the exterior mirrors. This placement is designed to relieve the driver’s workload and help maintain focus on the road.

Additional details such as hidden storage compartments, technology that becomes visible only when needed, and unexpected color accents complete the concept. Jaguar incorporates these elements into its own modernist design philosophy, which is implemented for the first time in a production vehicle with the Type 01. Managing Director Rawdon Glover summarizes the goal: “With the Type 01, we wanted to turn every drive into a special moment, through its driving experience, its appearance, and the emotions it evokes.” The GT-style seating position and the integration of technology and design are meant to work together to achieve this.
Before the official unveiling, the Type 01 has already appeared publicly. At the Monterey Car Week, the prototype will be on display in North America with a new, eye-catching livery. This presentation will culminate with an appearance at the Pebble Beach Concours on Sunday, August 16, where Jaguar traditionally showcases its brand history. The full global debut of the Type 01 is scheduled for October 6, 2026, in New York.
