The Ford Mustang Mach-E comes with the Trail off-road package and an increased range.

Ford has unveiled the updated 2027 model year Mustang Mach-E, six years after the electric crossover was first introduced. The main highlight is the Trail package, designed for those who enjoy outdoor activities and off-road driving.

The 73 kWh battery has been removed from the Mustang Mach-E lineup. The Select and Premium versions now come equipped with an 88 kWh battery, while the sporty GT and Rally trims feature a 91 kWh battery. Official range figures for the 2027 models have not yet been released. As a rough estimate, the data from previous model years can be used: the all-wheel-drive Select and Premium versions can travel up to 483 km, while the rear-wheel-drive version can go up to 515 km. The Mustang Mach-E GT is rated for a range of 451 km, and the Rally version has a range of 410 km. Additionally, Ford has developed a new front electric motor. In terms of performance, it is on par with the previous unit, but it is cheaper to produce for the company.

The new Trail package is available for the all-wheel-drive Select eAWD version. It’s designed for buyers who need extra capabilities on off-road terrain but aren’t ready to opt for the more expensive Rally version. Externally, the Mustang Mach-E Trail features black accents on the front bumper in Carbon Black and 19-inch alloy wheels in High Gloss Dark Carbonized Gray, different from those on the Rally version. It’s equipped with Michelin CrossClimate 2 all-season tires.

The suspension has been specially tuned with an increased ground clearance: the front of the vehicle is raised by 10 mm, and the rear by 15 mm. The steering column also comes from the Mustang Mach-E Rally.

The Trail trim features a Trail emblem on the central armrest. An interior protection package is available for an additional fee, including all weather floor mats and protection for the cargo area. The Thule Clamp On Cross Bar Kit is available for transporting bicycles, kayaks, and additional gear.

The standard Trail equipment includes a 400-watt Pro Power Onboard system with outlets in the rear of the cabin and in the cargo area. It allows charging electronic devices and connecting outdoor equipment such as camping lights, fans, and electric pumps.

The combination of improved suspension, tires, and steering allows the Trail to handle gravel, sand, and off-road terrain more confidently, as well as enhances traction in winter conditions.

New Features

In the GT and Rally versions, the BlueCruise 1.5 semi-autonomous driving system is standard, allowing travel on highways without the driver needing to constantly hold the steering wheel in designated areas. A one-year and 90-day service coverage period is included in the price. For the Select, Premium, and Trail trims, the system is available as an additional cost. The Ford Connectivity and Ford Security packages are now standard across the entire lineup. Each includes one year of service coverage, with the option to pay for it as a one-time fee as well.

The starting price of the Ford Mustang Mach-E in the U.S. is $42,040 for the rear-wheel-drive Select version, including delivery fees. Although this amount is higher than the initial price for the 2026 model, buyers receive a larger battery as part of the base configuration. The Trail package costs $2,295. First deliveries of this version are expected in the first quarter of 2027.
