Vauxhall has sold more than 100,000 electric vehicles across the UK, marking a major milestone for the British car maker.

The landmark 100,000th EV was a Grandland Electric Ultimate sold by Drive Vauxhall in Nuneaton. Since then Vauxhall has sold another 2,852 all-electric models from its burgeoning range.

Vauxhall has been selling EVs in the UK since 2011 but in the last five years has seen sales rocket. Since 2021 its EV sales have grown from 10,000 to more than 10 times that.

The brand’s EV journey started in 2011 with the range-extender Ampera, which sold just four units in its first year on sale. It was followed in 2019 by the first-generation Corsa-e, and since 2024 Vauxhall has offered a pure-electric version of all eight of its passenger vehicles. It also offers EV versions of its key commercial vehicles and builds the Combo Electric at Ellesmere Port.

While the milestone 100,000th motor was the flagship Grandland, the compact Mokka Electric remains Vauxhall’s best-selling EV, shifting more than 26,000 units since going on sale in 2020. The Corsa Electric is close behind, with a cumulative 23,000 sales over the past six years.

Eurig Druce, Vauxhall managing director, said: “Surpassing 100,000 electric vehicle sales in the UK is a significant milestone for Vauxhall. From the revolutionary Ampera to today’s fully electrified car and van range, we have remained a champion of electric vehicles, and our focus is to continue making electric mobility more accessible and attainable for British drivers and businesses.

“This milestone reflects the progress being made in bringing EVs into the mainstream. Whether it’s our Electric Streets of Britain campaign, our pioneering pricing strategy and an electric option across our entire range, or building electric vans here in the UK, we are helping more customers make the switch with confidence.”
