Zerova brings 1.44 MW MCS dispenser to Europe

At IAA Transportation in Hanover, Zerova is presenting its MCS dispenser for electric trucks and buses in Europe for the first time. The satellite charging unit is designed to deliver charging capacities of up to 1,440 kW.

The dispenser is based on the manufacturer’s existing power cabinets, the DO360 and DZ480. The power electronics and charging point are therefore spatially separated. The output voltage ranges between 150 and 950 V DC (DO360) and 200 and 950 V DC (DZ480), respectively.

The liquid-cooled charging cables are available in lengths of five or seven metres and can be equipped with either an MCS or CCS connector. The charging power of 1,440 kW (1,500 A) applies to the MCS section. The maximum charging power for the CCS section is not specified in the announcement.

The dispenser is operated via a 10.4-inch touchscreen. Authorisation options include RFID, QR code, and Plug & Charge, with an optional credit card terminal. Backend connectivity is provided via OCPP 1.6J and 2.0.1. According to the manufacturer, the system meets CE requirements as well as the IEC 61851-1 and IEC 61851-23 standards, making it suitable for use throughout the EU and the EEA.

According to Zerova, the system is designed for both fleet depots and charging parks along long-haul routes.

Heavy-duty transport is one of the most dynamic areas within electrification. Truck manufacturers and charging station operators are working intensively to establish megawatt-level charging infrastructure along key freight routes, according to Zerova. With its MCS charger, the company states it can directly support this transition and extend its experience in depot and fleet charging to the megawatt range for trucks and long-distance buses.

Zerova is currently showcasing its megawatt charging solution, along with its established DC charging solutions, at the IAA in Hanover at Stand C20 in Hall 13.
